When you have to measure .0001's accurately, a chamber cast won't cut it.
Carbon ring possible problem? Help please

I get that, but is a freebore measure critical out to .0005"? Let alone .0001"?
I'm not looking to argue. Serious question.

If I've learned anything from Dave in my years here...
1. Don't do anything to make the phone ring.
2. Embiggen your freebore diameter. (See #1)
A casting isn't going to give you a confident measurement in the tenths. Besides.. what difference does it make? It's tight. At best, a casting will confirm that it's tight. At worst, it will add chaos to confusion.
Open it up.

I get that. Perhaps I'm a glutton for punishment. But I like to know why a problem occurs. Not probably why. Exactly why. How do we do that? By taking measurements.

If you don't trust a Cerrosafe cast then do a lead pound cast.
Most here probably don't know how.
Perhaps the OP should measure his bullets. Wouldn't be the first time they didn't measure correctly either.
Assuming the one doing the measurements can read a Mic out to .0001".
Why is galling on the projectile showing up after 10 fired shots? If it's freebore then that freebore diameter and the bullet diameter are ridiculously close. Not saying it's not possible. So how do we know without guessing?

Or just run a throating reamer down it and see what happens. Might get lucky.

I consider 1/2 a thousandth as ridiculous close and with a little bullet runout and a little carbon buildup some contact makes since to me but what do I know.I just need to decide what to do with it from here I appreciate all the help, advice on this type of topic is hard to fine in my parts thanks again
