What’s the runout after jamming it in chamber?

Print shows the freebore diameter spec is .2645". The question is, what does it actually measure?

Trying to understand something off this thread: I looked at 3 diff reamer manus and the fb diameter was ,2645-.2646. So how can the OP's diameter wind up being tighter? Worn out reamer? Or the actual reamer was not made to spec?

Yes, worn or not ground to the print. Measure reamer to determine fb dia.

I believe the OP said he bought the reamer but he didn't say if it was new or not. So either it's been incorrectly sharpened or it was manufactured out of spec to begin with.
So you are correct, either condition is a possibility.

Yes the reamer I bought was new and the builder kept it as part of the deal and honestly I’m skeptical if he even used it or not as there was some other questionable practices with this build also

Sounds like a serious talk with the builder is in order. Probably be a good idea for a chamber cast so you know EXACTLY what was cut also.

The OP stated that the 'smith kept the reamer. And OP stated he questioned if the reamer he purchased was used. Op also said he had other questions regarding work that was done. I've no idea why, those are his words.

That's why I suggested a chamber cast and a conversation with the 'smith.
It's entirely possible PTG made a mistake on the reamer.

Yeah it’s been a couple years since he done the work and I’ve moved on from that. I was expecting something was wrong with the chamber form the get go just wanted some advice on what move to make from here. A chamber cast would be interesting to look at but I’m not sure I could get that accurate of a measurement from it. Sounds like I need to find a competent gunsmith now

Dave recommend having the throat cut back would you guys suggest at this point just having the chamber recut completely “set back” or what

If it were mine and I wasn't confident on what the original chamber was cut with I'd go with a new barrel and chamber. Otherwise, if it doesn't shoot to expectations and/or a throating reamer doesn't correct the fitment problems it's just going to make a bad experience worse.
Sounds like the OP is heading in that direction anyway.

Just my $.02

From your initial post it doesn't appear accuracy is a problem. Just issues with the FB diameter. That can be corrected.

If he is only able to shoot 15 rounds at a time, I can't imagine how he's even done load development?

Perhaps I'm missing something....

I’ve have around 500 rounds through it over the past few years trying the develop a load and I’ve got several 3 shot groups in the .2 range most around .4 but like shortt mention I start noticing problems so soon it’s hard to tell. I usually get 20 rounds before I give up as I start getting flyers opening the groups up to an inch or so
