Button or Cut rifle for a 6.5-284

What is going to be the best for accuracy,barrel life. A cut rifle barrel or a button barrel. I am thinking about picking up a Lilja 1-8 twist 3 groove #4 sporter on Monday. How many accurate rounds are to be expected out of a Lilja

Accurate rounds? Probably somewhere in the neighborhood of 750-1000. Dan makes great 6.5 barrels, as does Gary Schneider. I have used two of Gary's barrels on my rifle and would not hesitate to continue using them.

Both make great barrels. I don't know if there is any great accuracy difference between cut or button rifled. With that being said I do seem to like the cut rifled barrels. I just had a 284 built with a Broughton button rifled barrel and it is one of the most accurate rifles I have had in a long time.

I used the Pac Nor super match 3 groves in both my 6.5x284s and a 260 and they were all great shooters and they have wonderful customer service too.

I used my 6.5x284 in tactical matches and had right at 1400rds through it when I had it bore scoped and it was just showing some noticable throat wear. My son took it to a match with a man on man comp as one of the segments and junked it out in less than 300rds.

you can also try badger barrels. they are more known for their ar-15 service rifle and match rifle barrels. they have a higher Rc number so therefore they are harder and will last a little longer. just ordered one saturday from northern competition for an ar-15 rifle build for a buddy. badger will make about anything

My 2 cents, I like Krieger Barrels, never had a non shooter. I have used 3 in different calibers and all shot sub 1/2' groups. They are cut barrels get it in S/S and 1/8 twist.
