Button VS Cut rifling?

It's my understanding that moly was used to improve muzzle velocity with the unfortunate side effect of moly residue getting cooked in the throat.

I've heard HBN does not have the same residue issue but might do the increased velocity/reduced pressure. I will try it once I figure out a coating method (I want to try ultrasonic rather than a tumbler), if I can lubricate a little and run at lower pressure, I bet it won't hurt barrel life and if I'm not shooting as many foulers I'm ahead of the game.

It's not that I care about replacing barrels. That wasn't the purpose of my question. I personally don't see how the method of rifling can have an effect on barrel life with everything else being equal. From the responses so far it would seem I'm not the only one that thinks this way.
