It's my understanding that moly was used to improve muzzle velocity with the unfortunate side effect of moly residue getting cooked in the throat.
I've heard HBN does not have the same residue issue but might do the increased velocity/reduced pressure. I will try it once I figure out a coating method (I want to try ultrasonic rather than a tumbler), if I can lubricate a little and run at lower pressure, I bet it won't hurt barrel life and if I'm not shooting as many foulers I'm ahead of the game.
