Butch's Bore Shine

Butch's is all I use for cleaning. You can certainly leave it in over night or a bit longer w/o issue.

When I'm done cleaning, my barrels get a wet patch of original Hoppes #9.

Every time I smell Hoppe's, it reminds me of sitting by my Dad and watching him reload 22 Hornet ammo for my uncles Winchester Model 43. He'd give me a piece of cloth dampened with it. I'd clean the cases and drop them into a tin ham can filled with rubbing alcohol. The equipment was Herter's dies and Lee scoop style Loader.

When my uncle passed, his wife put all the nephews names in a hat and she drew for the guns. Along with the Model 43 was a box of ammo that my Dad had loaded, along with his notes. A cousin ended up with it but he's a shooter and hunter so it's in good hands.

Hoppe's is still the best slow acting, mild bore solvent out here.

Similar to my method. Except the wet patch for over night is a 50/50 mixture of Hoppes Bench Rest and Kroil. Works great for problem barrels. Mike

After a match I always run Butches in the barrel, leave it there for the 5 hour drive home then I clean them thoroughly but sometimes its the next day and I have never seen any signs of Damage!...I was told by some great short range br shooters that they do it all the time and that was good enough for me,.....one of those great shooters has already commented twice on here.
