Bullets.com

Wanted to bring to attention a vendor here on this site that deserves a shout out. I hope a lot of other vendors/business will read this and follow Bullets example. This is what shipping and handling should cost...Bear in mind this was 1000 105 bullets, so not a light package. Not to mention that the price on the bullets was great as well.

Not wanting to argue here Jim but how do you go about shipping 1000 bullets for less than 5 bucks? Shiraz has started another great company and I'm not knocking him but it has to cost more than this.

I ordered 1 box of Berger's and 2 boxes of Norma brass with a Redding die and the shipping was $9.95... That is much better then Midway... Plus I ordered it Monday and got it today...Bullets.com has been pretty darn good so far for me and Shiraz pays attention and fixes most problems I have seen posted..

Rick,

I should have looked a little deeper. I ordered a barrel at the same time which was shipped from a different warehouse than the bullets. Here was my total:

YOUR ORDER INFORMATION:
Ordered By:
Jim Fowler
ARKADELPHIA AR 71923-9653
United States

Type: Residential

Reference Number: 80006520 Order Date: 4/29/2014
Payment Type: VISA

Items Quantity Unit Price Total Price
BL10075 - 6mm/.243 105 Grain Match Hybrid Target Bullets, Bulk Box of 500 2 $156.15 $312.30
T10557 - 7mm 5R x 32" Finished, .277/.284 Bore/Groove x 1-9 Twist - 1.25" Straight Cylinder Barrel 1 $395.00 $395.00
Merchandise: $707.30
Oversize: $12.00
Shipping: $9.95
Total: $729.25

As you can see, total shipping on the barrel and bullets was $21.95. Still very, very reasonable consider the $12 oversize fee, and the fact that it was too separate shipments.

280man/ Rick: Bullets.com most likely has a commercial account with the shipper, as does Bruno, Midway, etc., with great discounts in their cost of shipping.

Sometimes less than half of what you and I would have to pay to ship the same item.

The difference may be that Bullets.com is passing their savings on to the customer, where others get the discount but charge the customer the full amount, for an "extra" profit.

I believe that is also the policy at Third Generation Shooters Supply, with their $7.95 flat rate shipping.

Ordered 1000 bullets from bullets.com and it was 9.95 to MN. Very good shipping prices. And as said before Third Generation is great also.

Our shipping is a flat $9.95 unless you have oversize charges like Jim did on the barrel he ordered at the same time.

Overall it can even out on what we collect versus what we charge, but more often than not we will lose money on shipping. It makes it more convenient for the customer to know the charge up front and also encourages them to add more items to their orders.

Shiraz,

You've earned my business!

Thanks!

I've yet to figure out why guys are paying $175 plus shipping for the 500-count 105's when Bullets.com has them for $156 ??? ??? ???

I can tell you exactly how Shiraz does it. He never uses or considers shipping charges as a money maker for his companys. Most of the companys that we deal with make a huge profit on shipping. It's like hidden bank fees and these companys rake in the profit.

There's really no such thing as free or cheap shipping. Some retailers inflate their shipping cost, some charge fairly, some offer "cheap" or "free" shipping but trust me, you pay for it one way or the other. It's always the delivered cost that should be the bottom line. It's easy to figure out who is fair and who is not. One company in particular seems to have jacked their shipping to unreasonable levels, I don't have to mention them. But it's a free market so it's easy to go elsewhere.

Unfortunately, they have been out of my bullets for a while, but at least they send you a postcard each month letting you know what's up.
