Bore cleaner

I have used Wipe-out/Patch-out and accelerator and thought they worked well. Then I bought a bore scope. Hard carbon was present in my bores, it took 7+ days with Carb-out soaking and lots of scrubbing with nylon brushes. I bought the Thorro-clean and was able to clean the carbon out, even the "carbon ring" in 20 min of total work time by following instruction.

Any comments on Thorro-clean products?

Thorroclean, this stuff works!

I had some hard carbon that patch out and accelerator as well as letting patch out soak just wasn’t getting the job done. After watching Fclass John’s video I decided to try Thorroclean. Thorroclean worked well on my first rifle so I tried it on a second one. This barrel has about 400 rounds...

1. White vinegar. Apply to nylon brush and scrub bore repeatedly (re-applying as needed) for a few minutes to loosen things up.
2. Wrap a bit of Bounty paper towel around the brush and apply bore paste of your choice. Scrub your bore 5-10 times, remove the old paper towel, replace with new paper towel and more bore paste. Repeat til the paper towel comes out pretty clean.
3. Wet a few cotton patches with oil/CLP and wipe out anything left in your bore. Follow with a couple dry patches.
NOTHING works better. Verified repeatedly with bore camera. When you want to clean your bore to bare metal, this is the way.
What the acidic vinegar doesn’t lift out (which is most of what’s in your barrel) the bore paste gets the rest of.
 
Bore Tech C4 has been working real well for me in my 457 Varmint, especially for getting the carbon ring out of the breach. I soak for a few minutes then use my nylon brush and all is clean.

After testing most everything out there, I can say that the best bore cleaner is Breakthrough clean tech carbon pro. It even beat Bore tech. After a 10-15 minute soak followed by 20 bronze brush strokes, it removed 99% of the hard packed carbon as verified by borescope. One thing it did that nothing else did was remove what appeared to be brown rust from a neglected shotgun bore. I was shocked to see what came out of that barrel. This was after it was cleaned with Bore Tech and Riptide and clean patches were coming out and visibly clean and shiny with a borescope. In the CLP class, Bore Techs new Extreme CLP is a hard act to follow and I wish we had it during my military career. While I'm not a CLP guy, it did an impressive job IMO.

I am having very good results too.....also I had some 22-250 Norma brass that had been sitting for years......the necks were totally black and the brass very oxidized.....sprayed a little waited a few minutes and to my surprise a quick twist with 0000 steel wool the brass came out like new........will still use boretech (because I have a couple of large bottles) but I just ordered another bottle of breakthrough........I am going to see what else it will clean

My wife will be happy to hear about the vinegar. She buys the stuff by the gallon. From laundry, household cleaner to weed killer. Aldi's vinegar.

Totally makes sense though. Same thing with using CLR.

I also agree NOT using the abrasive is just wasting time.
 
Many of the top shooters in the world are using wipeout and accelerator, but they brush it contrary to what the bottle says. They also use iosso as needed. Good enough for speedy, good enough for me.... doesn't seem too toxic, but maybe I should find an msds for it.
 
This for Copper removal. I`ve never seen anything else work nearly as good as good ole SWEET`S 7.62

Make sure the patches are coming out dry and clean, then run a wet patch of your favorite gun oil down the barrel. Dont forget to wipe the outside of the barrel down with a film of oil to protect it from flash rust.
