Blueprinting a Jewell Trigger???

Most don't complain because they don't know the difference. It would be the same as someone complaining about an un-blueprinted Remington 700.

Blueprinting a trigger means making sure things work as they should and match each other perfectly. Also hone or grind surfaces and increase sear dwell time to minimize sear rebound.

Improving a trigger would mean adding parts to make it work different than originally intended. Blueprinting doesn't reinven the wheel, it simply makes it turn smoother.

You are right!

We don't know, what we don't know.

How do we fix that?

Send it to Speedy and he'll fix it for you.

Send your Jewell to Jewell, your Remington to Remington. It's the same thing only different. Many competent people out there to do many complex (or simple) things. But one thing is for sure, they all had to learn how to do it.

The surfaces inside a Jewell are machined pretty crude. What I have done with them is to take them apart and straighten the side plates. There are a couple ways to do this, you check your progress by lapping the plates are watching the wear pattern. Your after a smooth even finish, from the factory the edges are rolled in. Then I lap all the internal parts. Use a flat stone or sand papers on a flat surface. You dont want to take a lot off just smooth them up or you'll add side clearance. Also polish the top lever where the cocking piece contacts. Last you need to polish the surface on the trigger where it contacts the sear, and also the knife edge on the sear. Its really simple guys, take it apart and use common sense. Worst thing that can happen is you have to send it to Jewell to fix your screw up, but thats how you learn. Just make sure when your done that you slam that bolt hard to check for slam fires.

Reading this thread got me thinking. Could be a bad thing. This is a good time to check mine out before the season starts. Pretty nasty
Thanks to the guy that posted the PDF of Jack Neary good info
You can see on the side plate after the grime is gone where it was rubbing. In the next pic you can see where I'm polishing the rough area that was rubbing the side plate

Another useful link it's been on this site numerous times. But now it will be on this thread. Jewel trigger diagram and adjustment instructions. http://www.ada.ru/guns/remington/jewell/manual_en.htm

Love this site
