Bit of a Rant

As some of you know I sell stuff here. I know at times stuff is hard to find and I post it a good price.
But lately I have never experienced such lowballing of posted prices vs offer prices.
A box of bullets today are from a dealer is 50.00, not shipped. I'll sell them for 45.00 shipped insured(resent price increase by postoffice). Offer from someone is 30.00 shipped.
Ain't gonna happen.
Or a sleeve of 500 bullets they only want 100 bullets and you pay shipping.

A nice rifle already dropped from build price 35-40% they will offer 80% of posted price.
A lot of the people who do that are newby's.
People remember this hobby is getting expensive.
My favorite is someone who asks for more info and more detailed pictures you oblige them. Then they turn dead silent. No further comments from them.
A simple Thank You will do. Or I'll pass on it.

My favorite is "i'll take it" and you send info and they will state funds going out in the morning. 10-15 days later Nothing, you pm them and they state I forgot to send it or I don't want it.
Meanwhile you blew off a bunch of people who were wanting it..

My reaction lately is to tell the lowballers NO
The people that forget to send funds is to just forget them after a short time and sell it to the next person.
The ones who fail to communicate is to ignore the next time.

Some people need to observe common manners in our dealing here.

Just ranting.

Good manners and integrity aren’t taught in many places, these days. I’ve been building an addition and couldn’t find any good help. The kids around here don’t want to work. They want to stand around and text their friends !
I just did what I could myself.
Soldier on, Thud! I hear ya!

I just bought (another) old FN commercial Mauser. The seller added “or best offer”. He made one counter offer and I accepted. I’m not going to miss out on something I want over a difference of 20 bucks. It’s also a courtesy thing. An extreme lowball is pretty rude, IMHO. I know a local guy selling a couple of Mausers that I think are overpriced. If he comes down on his own, cool. If not, I can pay less on Gunbroker.

Maybe I'm not real bright, but when I see someone offer an item that I want at a fair price, I tell them I'll take it. Maybe I could chew them down a few bucks, but its a FAIR price. I too am so very tired of cheap-asses. If I have what you want, for a fair price, why do you offer me 50%??? It pisses me off too.

Everything you mention is spot on having dealt with all the same issues in the past.
Buuuttt.....
Then you have other buyers who are an absolute pleasure to do business with, I've had several here recently that you wish you could model all buyers after.
Like you, the ones who lowball unreasonably and the ones who don't communicate I ignore.

You're not wrong. I sometimes get busy or distracted and my communication goes south. However when I say I'm going to purchase something I fund it instantly without hesitation. My ebay history supports that. To me, why was I shopping or bidding if I didn't have the money? Since I had the money pay as soon as you possibly can. I take pride in never delaying paying for something.

The thing that gets under my skin at times is the person who overprices something, and then bumps it every day, sometimes more than once per day!

OTOH, I saw something that was originally listed in 2019, and the seller bumped it maybe three times since. Now that is the other end of the spectrum, and obviously they must not care whether they sell it or not. Kudos!

I have bought and sold a some things here off and on and I have had good experiences with every buyer and seller i have dealt with. A few tire kickers that were not serious and a few offers i declined but im ok with those. I have also bought and sold alot of used snowmobile parts online and at swapmeets. Again most dealings were positive, but there seem to be alot of lowballing a holes and once in a while someone that is unrealistic with prices on their stuff. My favorite i swhen someone is haggling on price and justifies the lowball offer by saying that they need to make something off it. Im here cleaning out my garage, i dont owe you squat. I had some guy pissed off at me because i was selling an item to cheap and he his same item wasn’t selling at double my price, weeeelllllll i hate to tell ya, mine is still here so its not that underpriced haha

Can't understand why there were no lowballers when I sold 13 eight pounders of LT a few weeks ago. Maybe $240@ was too cheap........or maybe because it was gone in a few days. All good transactions.

I might ad to follow through on a sell or buy deal by doing the feedback.

I agree with you 100%- I have had mostly great transactions here. both on the buying and selling side. i rarely ask for a price reduction, i either think the price is fair or i dont buy something. I expect the same out of people who buy from me. Im not tolerant at all of people who want to beat me down. Especially the ones who cruise the marketplace several days back looking for things that havent sold so they can try to beat people down. Youll have these kinds of people in anything you do though. I dont let em get me down, i just dont pay attention to them. It seems lately on here the shortage has brought out alot more buyers that i havent seen before. with that will come some bottom feeders. Mabie after buying primers on GB people dont have any money left. LOL. Im fortunate I dont have to sell anything, so i. can tellem to take a hike if i feel like it, and sometimes I do. Thanks

They are tire kickers and throw out the fish net and see what catches.

In my like of work I get people trying to low ball or negotiate the price. I usually ask a question "Will you take a $10 pay cut on your paycheck every week?" and most of the time they get my point.

Try building an entire house I am doing all I can myself and it is killing me I’m too old for this crap

If someone lists a price and I want it, I pay the price. They usually have OR Best offer.
I don't want to or have time to dicker.
I don't NEED to sell anything. Pay the price or go away. If you want it bad enough, you'll pay my price. If I know you well enough, I may even make you a deal you can't refuse. ;)
