I had a 243 Ackley for a while, but it didn't have the twist for 105 A-Max. I have used the 105 A-Max in other rifles and I do find them a bit inconsistent, especially batch to batch. Reading on here I get the impression that if I analysed the boxes of bullets I could achieve better results by sorting my 105 gr A-Max.
I don't want to sort the bullets, so for top performance in matches I'm slowly looking at Lapua Scenars and Bergers, while retaining the A-Max for general practice. N165 sounds a good pick to me, but again trying other powder/primer combinations may yield improvements.
I liked my 243 Ackley.
Have fun.
