Best Trigger for Remington 700

How light can a good trigger be set and not have have it let go if you slam the bolt closed?
Uhhhhh, a good trigger should never fire while closing the bolt no matter how abusively you cycle it. It should also never fire from being dropped or the butt of the stock slammed on the ground. I've never had it happen with any of my triggers from 2oz. Jewells up to heavy Mauser triggers in the field or on the bench. If you are experiencing that happening, then you have a very badly configured trigger or it is broken and you should replace it. Increasing the weight of pull will not fix those issues! That sounds like a sear engagement problem.

I have couple 700's that can't be set safley below 24 oz. without excessive creep.

Trigger discussion, its not my intent to divert but provide more info.
How many ways is this drop test performed other than the real deal actual rifle pointed up impact butt on hard surface?
I would think with rifle supported on bags and rest could be whacked with a non marring mallet on the butt should give enough force to transfer to the trigger mechanism.

I'm running all jewel and adjusting the cock on close to match jewels. does anyone have data on where the different triggers engage?

1.5 oz is about as light as I have seen. The light trigger, when installed properly, has no chance of a slam fire or impact discharge. However, they are subject to being touched off.

The bix and the new farley can be set to under an oz. .9oz is about as low as they will go and still get consistent readings. Thats too light even for the best bench setup though- way too light

The Bix 'n Andy TacSport is another option. I like the two stage safety lever. The forums are full of guys that had issues with the Trigger Techs. IIRC, there was a recall of them.

Box & Andy triggers are wonderful. Like them much better than my Jewells.

Hmmm. A good gunsmith can tune a factory 700 trigger to be plenty good enough for most hunting, if about 2 lbs is light enough, and you don't want to fiddle with it thereafter, for a lot less $ than a premium aftermarket trigger. For walking-around hunting, a well-tuned 2-lb trigger feels plenty light enough for me.

This or for $75 you can send it to Neil Jones and he will "tune" it and set it to any pull weight that you want.

IIRC for Jewells you can order direct from Jewell and they will set pull weight.

My current 280AI build on a REM700 LA will sport a Tigger Tech. My next build will be with a BixnAndy. Just to see what all the hullabaloo is about. Thank goodness I'm not brand loyal...Get to taste all the choices!!
