Best Powders in the .222 Rem.

Some classic powders for the triple deuce seem to be IMR and H 4198, H322, W748, and H4895. I'm interested in knowing whether some of the newer powders have worked out well in this cartridge. VV N130, VV N133? Anyone with experience using other powders in the deuce?

There's some good info in this thread:
I have been impressed with N133.

It is NOT picky. I tried about 8-10 different odds and ends of powder with a good match bullet, I found a darn good sweet spot with every one of them. I wish I had more cartridges that were as friendly as my 222.

This outstanding cartridge tolerates several powders very well so I'm not sure there a so called "best:".

I used IMR 4198 with 50 grain bullets for many years and took a lot of varmints with that combo. Even out of a Rem 700 sporter weight factory barrel and factory stock, obtaining consistent 1/2 moa groups were no problem.

After a little over 5,000 rounds through my 222, I re-barreled with a 223 Rem Douglas Match barrel.

Others I know had a lot of success with IMR-3031, BLC-2 and H322, but I never ventured far beyond IMR 4198 since it shot so well. Most likely, the other powders recommended will do very well also. This cartridge is a lot like the 308 Win, it is inherently accurate.

Benchmark
What weight of bullet are you using? I'm shooting about 20.7gr of IMR 4198 and 40gr V-Max, groups are about 1/2". Waiting for some better shooting range weather. Winter just won't leave. I have a lot of Benchmark, but load recipes I see are all for heavier bullets.
