Recommended Powders for 223 Remington

N133 is Clean stuff--At $289 for 8 lbs at Bluecollar it is now the value option--It has been like Pixie Dust with 53 Vmax for me--low low ES--excellent speed--clean as can be Others work great--that is an easy combo to nail down but for me it is N133. Especially with the way prices are now--it used to be the expensive stuff--not any more
Is it ball or extruded?

I ordered a 223 Rem 1:14 twist barrel to shoot the 52 and 53 grain flat base Berger and Sierra bullets. Will be shooting at 100-200 yards What powders would you recommend to try first? I have the following powders on hand.
10X, H355, Tac, H4895, CFE-223, IMR 4198, Varget and VV 140
Thanks
Varget. H4895.

The 223 is one of the most forgiving non finicky cartridges you'll ever load for. Some rifles may like some powders better then others but something we can nearly all agree on is the list of powders that work well in the vast majority of all 223's, whether they're gas or bolt gun, is extensive.

My first ever AR was a HB Olympic Arms AR15 I bought back in the early 80s. Other then being a HB instead of a skinny barrel it was just a basic average AR15 223. My dad had a pile of Hornady 53gr HP's so I was all for free bullets and a friend of his that had an AR gave me load to try using Win 748. Those 53 HP's and Win 748 shot amazingly good and that was my "go to" powder in all 223's until I switched and started using Benchmark shortly after it came out. I'm sure Benchmark is more temp stable then Win748 but I can't say it really shoots any better then Win748. The crazy thing about Win748 is it works as well with the light bullets as it does the heavies, in 223's, which is something you don't find with many powders.
