Boy Scout issue pocket. Can't even think about how many
rabbit and squirrel were cleaned with it.

That sucks! I did not know this. Thanks. I love my Benchmade auto open knives. Won't toss them, but won't buy another.

A Case trapper is hard to beat for hunting. That steel will get shaving pretty quick and holds it longer than something like an Opinel. A congress or whittler is same for general use.

I have preferred fixed blades in horizontal belt sheaths ever since a Benchmade liner lock folded up on me. Spyderco in VG10 is the easy button.

I know that I am late to the party, as this thread is more than 2 years old, but I was interested to see what others had to say. I got bored kind of quickly and did a search for the knife I carry. Nothing!

I started carrying a pocket knife 50 years ago and am never without, except when I fly. At first I set a limit of $100 for a knife and those did pretty well, but eventually broke from prying, probably. I followed a knife forum for a few years and learned what the elite (?) carried. I am more practical than that but I did learn.

Then I attended a knife show and got to see what all the vendors had to offer. I went away with a small Chris Reeves Sebenza with cocobolo scales. Wow I thought I had found what I wasn't looking for. Then I learned that it was too small for me to handily open it with one hand. I gave up on it and later bought a used large, plain Sebenza just to try out. I have carried that knife for over 20 years now. I've sent it back twice now I think for sharpening, which is free. I love it and well worth the money as I haven't had to buy any more knives since then.

I could tell how it has been mistreated at times, but just know that it holds up and the company stands behind them.

I carry a benchmade that I really like with the improved slide lock vs. a liner lock. It's a little more secure during use IMO. I would suggest a better quality folder with a pocket clip and good quality steel.

Buck& Benchmade have models with s30v blades.both are good knives.

A fine all around pocket knife, is the Old Timer in the Trapper model, with the two blades. Easy to sharpen, holds a edge well and it will do a multitude of jobs a pocket knife calls for.

I don't see the big deal with Benchmade assisting the police department with destroying firearms that are required to be destroyed by law... Taking a gun during a search of a drug dealers house, now what are you going to do with the gun? They are required to destroy it..
If a person uses a gun in self defense, police seize it as evidence and return it after the trial to the owner as they are required to do.. I don't see a problem..

Wondering if I should have even posted this.. Some folks look for any reason to be a Karen or Kevin,,,

I like my 35+ year old made-in-USA Gerber folder. I carried an Old Timer for 10-15 years but I don’t know where it is. Like @joshb I have lost several cheaper models at airport security.

I was just thinking about what I look for in a knife and the first thing I look for is how is the handle designed. If it doesn't look like I can get a good firm grip that won't move even when it's slippery - I don't buy it. There's nothing like having your hand slip on a grip skinning a deer (or some other chore) and winding up with a nasty deep cut because the handle design didn't include protection against slipping. I also carry a 4" D2 pry bar for work a knife shouldn't have to do.
