Best Pocket Knife

I have inexpensive and expensive knives. Mainly folders. But the knife I have fallen into carrying with me everyday for several years has been a Kershaw Leek folder. It has a single Wharncliffe blade, and opens with one hand.

It's thin in the pocket, maybe 3" folded, all metal, light, easy to open, and sharp. It's not too expensive and can be purchased for under $50, so If I lose it, I don't care so much.

The Old Timer USAs are great. I think the workmanship would be super expensive to make today. The carbon blades are super. Sears Craftsman (made in Japan) are pretty nice (old school Stockman). My goal is to carry a decent knife that won't wear a hole in my pants.

I hate stuff in the bottom of my pocket, pocket clip lets it ride on the back side of my pocket, it comes out of my pocket in the right presentation position and ready for immediate use.
With the thumb assist bolster its fast to open, locks open, easily closed. They do take a little experience to sharpen. Buck blades usually will get me through 3 deer before they need sharpening. Only one hog though. They're not terribly expensive in this model, always handy, whether its pealing apples, cleaning game, or opening boxes.

My every day carry. I sharpen with el cheapo portable diamond sharpener. Worth the money I think. No crying if you lose one. On my second one in ~10 years, cuz I lost one...

Have been daily carrying a Buck Bantam for about 6 + years now. It functions as many tools for me, I can’t believe I haven’t broke the tip off.

I’ve used just about every cheaper main stream run-of-the-mill brand out there and everything in between.

I now use “Nazarov” custom hand forged knives. Can get them in all kinds of styles large and small and a few different high quality steels as well but I personally prefer a good properly hardened Damascus. Damascus makes for a beautiful blade but is also extremely strong and performs exceedingly well. All Nazarov blades are hand forged from scratch. I went through skinning and fully processing all the meat into steaks and stew cubes on 6 deer before noticing my edge sharpness was finally dwindling and needed a touch up.

Nazarov knives are very lightweight, have excellent handle work with perfect ergonomics and balance for maximum control, crazy sharp, hold an edge like no other, come with a thick top notch quality leather sheath, and lifetime warranty.

I know next to nothing about knives and never carried one in my pocket until a few years ago. I got a Kershaw OSO Sweet folding knife a few years ago and now carry it almost everywhere I go. Handy, just the right size, keeps a nice edge and opens with one hand. I am sure there are many better knives around but this one is just right for me!

Kershaw made in Japan look excellent.

I have a Gerber, black plastic lockback, super light that is very sharp. My favorite is a linerlock, old timer 125ot. heavy as a rock.

We talk about knives and the prices and one is better than others. How about recommendation for a good sharpener?

I recommend a Case XX - Large Stockman or something similar. I have gotten very used to having three different blades for different tasks. You can keep one extremely sharp for when that is necessary for fine cutting, one decently sharp for everyday cutting, and one can be left dull for scraping and digging. I wouldn't know know to function with a single blade pocket knife.
