Best ARA factory gun?

I looked through the post and couldn’t find anything by the ARA factory rules, I’m currently shooting benchrest center fire stuff but interested in maybe trying some Rimfire matches snd have several ranges close by shooting ARA rules. Any help I’d appreciated

As a general recommendation I would say CZ 457 and Bergara B14R with steel barrel.

If I were buying a factory class rifle right now...Bergara B14R with steel barrel would be top of the list for me, followed by CZ 457 MTR.

I’ve read the rules, I do not want to show up with a target model ruger or savage and be beat by a better quality gun within the rules

If that's the case, buy one of these 2 or a Tikka T1X. The Tikka T1X is capable of cleaning that target with the right ammo.

The bungee is an attachment to the stock, correct?

I am guessing that would be contested under rule 8.4.1.4.13 if you won a match or tourney. It’s an interesting idea though Lee, can’t blame a guy for thinking!

I’ve personally seen the CZ MTR Brad Sandy shoots. This year his agg is 2395/2500 for the National Factory Aline. MTRs hammer along pretty good if you can tune them up a bit and pay attention to your flags. A trigger and bench manners are your weakest links. I believe the Kites might have helped modify that gun a bit, within the rules. Brad is a nice guy, ask him next time I see him at a match. Have two of the MTRs of my own, won the first match of the year with one - first time I’ve shot it in competition. Shoot unlimited after the weather clears out here in the Midwest.

i have not seen anyone using a bungee.. but i have seen some unique 2 pc rests
8.4.2.1.2. Both the front and rear rest may not be attached to the stock at the same time. Either the front or the rear of the rifle must be free to be lifted from the rest. 8.4.2.1.3. Anything placed under the front rest may not be attached to or contact
above are the rules for rest. so, since the bungee is not attaching the stock to both front and rear rest at the same time is it Legal? if it is legal, my experiments show it will help a lot. I am a believer of recoil management as part of the equation to time the bullet's exit. and since bullet exit timing is key in tuning well, I will leave at that. this is why you can't add weight to the rifle slows recoil.

At our local matches we have eight to twelve, sometimes more, Factory shooters. The majority are shooting CZ 457 MTRs, with a few other 457s. We have one B14R, a couple Ruger Precision Rifles sometimes, and a couple other manufacturers. I haven't seen a Tikka yet. The advantage I see to the 457 is the OEM trigger is easy to work on, and now Jard is making a pretty good trigger for the 457. There are several great aftermarket triggers for the B14R.

I have a cz457 mtr it will clean factory ARA targets all day long... it has also shot scores of 2300 on unlimited targets... with sk or lapua branded ammo. Started shooting cheap bulk ammo last few shoots just to keep it fun and intersting with my shooting buddies. As with everything mass produced you either get a awesome barrel or bad and everyhing between, luck of the draw. I think all the name brands will shoot. Mostly comes down to the shooter and ability to call wind. With or without wind flags. I shoot with no flags personally.
