Berger 7mm 190gr long range hybrid

Hi Rob.
How much more powder does the saum hold than the 7ss..?
The problem is that when all is said and done the saum doesn't really get to use that 4gr. more. The SS pushes the shoulder back and into a 40* which makes the neck longer than the saum, also the side taper is blown out on the SS. So in essence a lot of that 4gr. more capacity space is taken up by the bullet sticking down into the power column past the neck shoulder juncture where most bullets in the SS barely even enter the neck shoulder juncture given the longer neck. Now you could always have a reamer made with for the saum with more freebore to correct that problem or throat it.

yesterday fire forming...65F, 29.86 BP, 60% hum, +750 DA at sea level

the last shot completed number 105 on this barrel, krieger 1:8. sizing die shipping today, so can move on soon, i am moving shoulder out about 5 tho total

my labradar sucked a lot yesterday, it has never missed so many shots...dont have good info on N170

7/300wsm (slightly straight body) virgin RP brass
190 Berger
H1000 64 gr = 2849 15 OTL (forgot this load, it was shot a week ago)
N165 62.5 gr = 2862 20 OTL
N165 63 gr = 2886 20 OTL
N170 64gr = 2818 30 OTL...didnt know what expect with this powder, so jumped more..frankly no experience with any of these powders
N170 63 gr = 2822 ...part of string, only one recorded...
N170 65gr = 2858
IMR 8133 64.90 gr = 2845 25 OTL
IMR 8133 65.42 gr = 2864
IMR 8133 65.92 gr = 2882

QL says i need to lean on 8133 a little to get to 2925 area...so once i can size brass i will work on this powder as i have an 8lb jug of it...

you will love this part,,,,,today it was 74 F and +1300 DA at my local range/hell hole....

first time out with once fired brass......RP tho....and now over 130 rnds down the tube, which i measure at 32"...

best accuracy was at touch and +5 ITL on the 190 LRHT and 66 gr IMR 8133, 309 bush and 215m = 2917 and 2926 fps....will work from this area next and dream about ADG brass this year...loaded rnd measure 310 to 3095
i haved used br2 for some FF laods and they look good, just dont many compared to 215 and 210

got rid of the rock hard mcmillan recoil pad for a limbsaver and that was a good choice for this combo

But they or the a tips didn’t do to good at Ben Avery today.
learning to shoot in wind will trump a bc of a bullet. You can’t buy yourself a win with BC.

Matt, that’s not correct, regarding the first statement and A-tips.

I have to add also, I haven’t ever blown any of the A-Tips up, either, in 7, .30 or .338, and they are about alone in that regard. I push bullets pretty fast through long barrels and live in the heat 200 miles south of San Antonio.

At Ben Avery, I didn’t use them at midrange Saturday, but they placed me 10th on Friday at 1,000 and 11th for Sunday, (today) at 1,000, with higher X’s, at the Winter Regional,(8th on the V2 sheet) which is significantly better than the day I didn’t use them, and better than I’d otherwise tend to estimate finishing in that group.

I agree that you still have to make wind calls and catch and estimate changes, but if you base a hold off big-group shots, that can frustrate learning the wind. They shoot small groups at LR to base your calls off of.

How many of you'll used the 190gr A tips and how did they fare overall... there was some banter there I wasn't sure of..
What calibre and bullet combo took the honours..?

Four did that I know of, 95% certain that’s all, 4 x the 190’s. I only used them in the two 1,000 yard days, not the 600 day. The 600+1,000 weekend agg was won with them (+5 points, +10x).

There was a separate 2 day agg of just the 1000 pair fire day on Friday and the 1,000 individual Sunday. If I counted right, they took 2nd (-2x), 5th, 8th, and 20th. By 2x the 1,000 agg of two days was won with a 300 WSM.

I’m shooting in Fclass Open with a 7-270 WSM and I use Berger 184 Bullets . I have quite good results pushing them to 3140 FPS on a 9 twist barrel. I’m testing new 190 Berger with a 8 twist barrel but I can’t find any accuracy at high speed . I can push them easily to 3070 FPS but no way to find good accuracy . If I slow down to 2950 not fantastic but acceptable accuracy . Any help ?

Haven’t got them to do much of anything fast. Best accuracy seemed to be in the low 2700s
