I just popped on to the Berger site, and they don't show them. Sumpthin new?? jd
How twisty of a barrel do they require??
I am 98% sure they are yellow box without having them in my handYellow box or orange box ??
Thanks Laurie. That puts me out of the game. jdNo - sumpthin discontinued. They go back to the period when there was a lot of interest in 17 and 20-cals for varmint-hunting including several wildcats. (Todd Kindler and Small Caliber News, The Terrific Twenties etc)
At the time it was introduced (1990s?), Berger said 8 twist. Since then, optimal Sg value has risen from the once-recommended 1.4 to 1.5. 8-twist gives 1.4 at sea level / 59-deg F at 3,000 fps MV. To achieve 1.5 at this MV and in the same environment, you need 1 in 7.5-inch.
Jan, Send me a pm when ya get back from vacationI am 98% sure they are yellow box without having them in my hand
The b.c.changed when the suggested twist did as well. They both work very well in my 9 twist Dasher.Doesn't Berger list the barrel twist needed on their box ? somewhere around 1/9 should work fine.
Me neither.I checked with them a few years ago and asked what twist rate for the 55 gr. with a 20 Dasher. They told me a 7.5 twist. So I went with a 7.5 twist and the bullets came apart before they reached the target. They made excuses with me for over a year and ended up doing nothing to help me out. Expensive lesson for me. Don't listen to Berger. Listen to the guys shooting the bullet with sucess.I cannot figure out why Berger ever recommended a 7 twist.
