Benchrest style 22lr build

I think it is a smart thing to bed all bedding blocks.

Never hurts. But I have the vast majority of my customers not seeing the need.

I think these new actions are just more true too.

Some bed the recoil lug. I have one if my best shooters he has a recoil lug tightening bolt like the MPA chassis uses.

Wolf Precision has a youtube video, about a Vudoo in an MPA, action was hitting 3 out 4 contact points. They claim 70-80% need bedded.
One of the comments,......close to 60 different reminington 700 footprint actions designed to fit in how many 100 + stocks.

Exactly. Penrod built a rifle for me several years ago and I went with his custom bedding block. When I received the rifle the bedding block was completely bedded over, and I would strongly believe that with his excellent machining skills, his bedding block was more precise than a 'production' part. Same with the HS Precision stock on my Rem 700 SA that had a factory bedding block. Didn't even shoot as good as the original 'tupperware' stock that came off it. Bedding over the block fixed it. JME

Not being a ball roller, my 2cents. I built 4 F/Class Rifles on your very nice Lam Stocks with Blocks.
I opened the recoil Lug area and Bedded them, over sized Lug used. Those Rifles are Winners.

Exciting.

What configuration did you end up with?

FWIW the barrel channel of my Revolution was exactly 1.2” and I used a barrel contour that started at 1.2 and necked down quickly to .900 for the rest of the length. The 1.2” section contacted the stock wood and I needed to file a tiny bit of relief when I fitted the gun because I didn’t want any contact there. (Would it have mattered considering it’s the 1.2” stub and the rest of the barrel is .900, I have no idea, but that was the choice I made).

I am puzzled by your comment that you bought a Revolution stick but didn’t want a “true” Benchrest stock. What is the difference?

1.2” diameter barrel at 25” length. RBLP Vudoo action. What I meant as a BR stock was something like this…. The revolution stock looks a little more traditional yet still has the 3 inch wide forend and flat bottom. It looks a lot better than the one picture below to me.
