Bat 3L vs. 2L for short range benchrest???

Is there a valid reason to go with the 3 lug? For short range benchrest over 2 lug? In 6ppc


And scarbrough vs McMillen edge fclass stock for 6ppc light varmint. Why or why not.

I am new and looking at a few different guns and need some guidance

Yes. The roller was made for the 3l just to make it halfway normal. Some gunsmiths put lighter springs in to make the bolt work better and seem like a hero but they wont shoot seriously like that

It seems to me that it is a "Chevy vs Ford" type of choice. Both can the basis for extremely accurate rifles. Personally, I prefer the 2-lug because of the smoother bolt lift. I have a BAT model B that is chambered for a 6mm Dasher and 6PPC and it works great. A friend has a 3-lug that is a switch barrel and it too is a great rifle. Shoot each and see which one you like best.

Only from him. FWIW I talked to him less than 90 days ago and was told he was behind, may not take any more orders. Sounded like a minimum of a year.....if then.
Now all this during a possible delay on a Scoville which came together bedded under a BAT D. My backup plan was a Meredith TMBR bedded by Tom who does superior work and I would have been completely satisfied as I have three done by him.

As a final IMHO doesn’t get any better than a D melonited with the roller.
I thought long and hard about the Neuvo and came damn close but went with the D.

Don’t get hung up on getting a Scarborough if time is a factor. They are obviously top notch, but there are other good choices to be made including the Edge stock you mentioned. Kelbly makes some awfully nice stocks too. You wouldn’t be settling for second rate if you went a different direction.

Chris at bullet central usually keeps them. Call the top br gunsmiths and see if anybody is selling. I just sold a ds in a scarbrough on here about a month ago- sold it before the boss could pull my illegal ad (about 5mins)

Yes full, proper title DS. Usually simply refer to them as a D or S since I have both.

The stock imo is worth as much or more than the action
I see a Scoville or a Scarborough either one come up for sale doesn’t matter to me if it’s a panda or a bat long as it’s dual port. I’m all over it
The right stock is a big deal !!!!
