Barrel order... Still waiting.

In ten days (18th March) will mark the one year mark of a two barrel order from Rock Creek. I think this marks a record for me in the last 10 years. Man things must be really busy out there. At least the Firarms manufacture have work and are getting plenty of overtime in the slumping economy.

Those of you planing a build make sure you plan ahead.

Ordered my Krieger in September and still don't have it. I'm pretty sure it will be worth the wait. But it does suck. I heard that Krieger are quoting 11 months but I don't know if that is true or not. I did call Brux the other day. And I told them I know I'm probably wasting a call but y'all wouldn't have a #4, 7mm 9 twist in stock? And they did. I told them I needed to go buy a lotto ticket. A week later it is in my hand. They said they had a order for 2 barrels and they made 3 by accident.

I have ordered in the past 4 months 5 barrels, two Barlien and two Kriegers. The longest I had to wait for any of them is 3 days. There are suppliers out there who have many of our profiles in stock. I'm pretty easy I only purchase two different profiles for my F-Class rifle. You guys need to look into this, maybe there is a quicker way to go...

A couple of us were having coffee the other day discussing the current builds we are trying to get together yet for this yr and it just hit me. I should be placing orders for barrels and such now, for next yr.... ;)

There are many suppliers (on this site) who maintain a supply of Krieger, Bartlein, etc. barrels in stock, and unless you are looking for something out of the ordinary, they can be shipped within days.

Yes, you may pay a bit more ( maybe $20 to $25), but the barrels are available. Over the past 12 months I've bought several Kriegers, Bartleins, and even a Hart direct from the maker, and with the exception of the Hart ( 2 1/2 month wait), the others were in my hands within a week to 10 days of ordering.

I only use Krieger barrels and the waiting is always 12 months so I just order what I might need next year and do that every year... Got 5 barrels in my next order that will arrive next year...

I have one coming from Rock Creek and i called 4 months ago and they told me two weeks and i called again in two months and they told me two weeks and that was 2 months ago also. Sounds like a forum answer....... jim

Not sure about the Rock Creeks (sadly I have heard others having similar delivery difficulties).

I recently ordered 2 (1:8.0 twist) 7mm barrels from Kreiger and got them within the quoted 16-20 week delivery period.

I ordered a krieger last winter and didn't get it until the end of the summer just before the last match of the year. I chambered it and shot the match then put back on the barrel I bought in stock during the summer. I sent it off to have Melonite treatment and now I have to let it sit in a box and don't know when I will put it on. I am only going to buy what I can find in stock for now on. Any body want to buy a new krieger 6xc fitted for a 40x rem? 266 neck 1-7 twist. All that waiting and now I'm chambered with a 284 win.

I ordered a Shilen Select Match thru the barrelman and had it in les than 5 weeks., got tired of waiting for one from another maker, too many "it will be shipped next week" replies when I inquired on adelivery date.,,who in the world is ordering all the barrels from barrel makers that they are that far behind, How many can they produce a day?? We are a short time from what the market will bear with these barrels and would anticipate $500 in the near future at the rate the demand is for them.

I would suspect they (the big name barrel makers) are filling the orders to the large retailers, (like Lester Bruno) first & the individual who orders 1 or 2, goes to the back of the line.

RT I feel your pain, I pick up a free Rock barrel cert off the prize table in Nov 2011, I have received the run around more than once since then from Rock Creek, I still don't have a barrel from Rock and I expect never to get it either, I understand it was a gift, and I appreciate the jester, but after almost a year and a half there word is worthless, if I ever receive that barrel it will be forsale. If your hart is still set on a Rock Creek barrel look here, seems they are the distributer for them.

Yep,thats my story also, I won a Rock Creek at IBS national and ordered it right away, I keep hearing the same story. ....... 2Weeks... jim

Grizzly keeps Bartlein barrels in stock and has a great selection. I ordered a 7mm straight 1.25 from them and had it in 5 or 6 days. Paid a little more for it but didn't have to wait. Bruno's is another place I have bought barrels from and they are great to deal with. I wouldn't mess around with a company that takes a year or more - life is too short!

Placed an order years ago ( honestly don't remember how many but it was a long time ago) for a M1A barrel. Spoke with the owner for quite some time about hunting, he has hunted in the same area of SD as I have. Never saw the barrel so I have crossed them off my list of whom to spend my hard earned money with. Not worth that much wait, too many good barrel makers out there that may be backed up, but keep their word.

My experience is that does not happen.

I was lucky and one of our great forum Members had a 10 twist palma barrel that I snapped up this last summer... Just in case. The other barrel that im kinda waiting on is a 7mm for a 280AI project Prone gun. Was hoping to have it done this winter and start testing this summer, and maybe ready to compete in the big matches by next fall. Not a huge deal as I can push that project to the right While still campaining the 6.5X284 for yet another year.
Rock Creek have made me some darn good barrels in the past, So I thought I would give them a go again. I dont mind the wait as much as getting lied too... Just tell me its going to be X amount of time. Thats the part that gets me upset. THey where doing real well for awhile there, looks like there back to there old ways again.
