Bad day at the range

Yesterday I loaded up 30 rounds for my 6BRX and went to the range to shoot at 600 yards. I took my Yamaha Rhino so I could use it to hang targets and put up wind flags. The battery was dead so I had to carry a jump box to start it each time. I unloaded all my gear on to the bench and prepared to shoot on this beautiful day. I loaded a round into the chamber closed the bolt and pulled the trigger; nothing happened. Same procedure again with same results. Then it occurred to me that I failed to expand the necks to create a false shoulder for fireforming. Needless to say I was not happy. Don't you love these cartridges with all their idiosyncrasies.

If you had of sat the round under the extractor claw manually and fed it in, they would have fired. I did this with my 22BRX in fireforming the first 50 rounds as I made them before I had the rifle made. All cases formed fine.

I thought I was the only one that did stuff like that. I mentioned the practice on another forum and was basically crucified. All the "internet experts" insisted that I most certainly narrowly avoided death.

Not necessarily. I had the same issue with forming 6BR-DX brass, and putting them under the extractor did nothing...
