Tesla car batteries in the US market are made In Nevada as far as I know. Ford has customer price and financing protection. We got our Maverick yesterday after 53 week wait. No mark up and they gave us the 9/2021 0% financing. Very impressed with Ford.
I dont think its fair or really accurate to say we outsourced the chips. It's more like they evolved in better industry environments. Intel was made here. Motorola. But Nvida, AMD all that and the cell phone has always been offshore, right

From what my phone tells me, the batteries for 1 model are made here. Japan makes the batteries for the other 2 models.
We need to have a large percentage of these produced here and be self sufficient.
If they don't participate it's just their loss then. When you can't get vehicles to sell I'm not sure why a dealer would want to turn down easy money however minimal it is.Dealers are not required to participate in the Employee plans; and you are correct, I failed to mention that the Dealer still makes a base sum for handling the transaction/delivery.
Does that make sense that a Dealer chooses not to participate? It does when few eligible people live in the area of his core customer base.
I was hired to build the Excursions in 1999, production was 20 hours per day (2 shifts), 6 days per week, but the Order Bank grew beyond our capacity to deliver in a timely fashion very much like today. The Super Duty Order Bank was nearly a quarter of our annual production. The 6.8 Ltr V-10 gas and 7.3 Ltr V-8 Diesel were much preferred, and we had an enormous demand from Export Markets. The First Gulf War caused a significant drain on our Work Force as the National Guard and Reserve Soldiers from our Plant were activated/mobilized.
As you can imagine production took a hit for a while but adjustments were made.
We have not experienced such a broad spectrum of shortages in my Wife’s (29.5 years).
Heh Heh Heh Yeah. The phone and the batteries ?? Ouch !!
IIRC, GM dealers got 5% of invoice on employee vehicles. In today's market, they'll make a lot more money on a retail sale. In my area, GM dealers are not selling employee discount on trucks. If they don't participate it's just their loss then. My point in previous post was about during that time you mention. Dealers could not get the trucks to sell so as I mentioned the dealer was more than happy to take the executive plan order. They were waiting 6 and 9 months on regular Super Duty orders back then. I had mine in two weeks. I just told the dealer I wanted the Vin# when they got the order conformation back, from there it was a matter of a phone call to get that one built. It's just all in knowing the right people in the right places. lol
I e got a 01 chevy arf ton. Runs splendidly. Not arf the performance choking junk the Guberment has saddled current vehicles with. No payments either.
I'm sure they won't on their inventory but my point is for new employee orders it seems crazy to turn them down. I've bought that way from two different Ford dealers and they were always more than happy to take the order. Even for a Super Duty back when they had nearly a year wait because as I said I was told an order through employee pricing did not effect their other quotas and was even told he didn't care if I did back out of the deal when it came in so he had an extra to sell.IIRC, GM dealers got 5% of invoice on employee vehicles. In today's market, they'll make a lot more money on a retail sale. In my area, GM dealers are not selling employee discount on trucks.
Love my '18 Denali 6.2. Awesome motor. I get about 17 mpg just country driving. It'll do 20 or better on the highway. The 8 speed; while not as bad as some made it sound, is not as smooth and predictable as either the 6 speed Ford or GM. I still feel like my '11 F-150 was a "tighter" truck. I just wish they'd have put a less "techy" motor in it.Can also get a 420 HP in 2022 that gets the same mileage as the 5.3.

Just seen this post, and I'm in the exact situation. Placed order mid Feb with delivery dates changed 2-3 times. Finally got notification that the truck was built and shipping would be within a few days to a week. Received another email that delivery had been rescheduled and would be delayed a month, projected to arrive end of Oct or first of Nov. Not certain why Ford would misrepresent the simple facts. We sold our current truck, believing that Ford would deliver, and we're stuck without and waiting. All of the blame belongs to Ford, largely due to canceling their commitment to purchase chips and a new market was found with no ability for the chip manufacturers to increase production to make up for the shortfall. This was straight out of the mouth of a plant manager for Ford.
