Back Ordered Ford

I ordered an F350 back in March. Delivery expected late August/early September. Go on Ford website and it shows truck complete and waiting for shipping. Hurra!!
Get a chance to sell my existing truck for asking price first week of September so...why not. I can drive one of my company flatbeds until mine comes in. Then I get notification I wouldn't get it until October 18th. Well crap.
Then one of my employees emails me this:

I'm going to be driving this damn flat bed all deer season it looks like. My bride is less than impressed to say the least. We had a few camping excursion's planned in November and December.

Friend of mine sold his pickup last year based on a final final sort of promise date waiting on his Ford Lightning, then about 5 months later he finally got it. His order took in excess of 15 months to delivery. Good luck with yours. Seems that nothing is certain these days until they hand you the keys.

Which by the way may be only ONE key and an order number for the second

I’ve been waiting over 6 months for my new heavy duty Ram 2500 power wagon…..and I work at the damn company….lol.

I went through this last year with my F150. Ordered Sept.3 received Dec. 22, 16 weeks to the day, no price increase, no hidden cost whatsoever. Difference I traded in my 2008 F150 because I couldn't beat the deal. The 08 was 14 years and 4 days with me and had 45,000 miles on it, the new one at 10 months has 2200 on it. Old one 15mpg new one averages 24=/- mpg., can't wait to see what it does when it gets broken in, may take a year or two at this rate.

I took a trip 2 years ago to the ford museum in Dearborn. They had f150s at the time stages anywhere they could fit them and also their test track. We also travel down I 71 frequently and they have had truck at Kentucky speedway for awhile now staged.

Been sixteen years but IIRC, big fleet sales were out the door before dealer units. I remember orders in the 20,000 to 35,000 range to rental fleets and governments. In today's market, specific equipment ordered vehicles go to the back of the line and with today's shortages of components, I wouldn't look for an ordered truck to be delivered until next year. A neighbor has had a Ford pickup on order since January. The camper he bought to use this summer is eating storage yard rent and collecting dust. YMMV.
