Yep, fortunately, this kind of thing has been almost unheard-of on this board. I want to make it clear that insulting or inflammatory posts won't be tolerated here, and will earn the poster a quick trip to the shame cell. I'm not going to ban our newcomer yet, as perhaps he's not used to the standards we all expect. But I don't want to see this kind of stuff again. Thus far I haven't had to intervene in the threads much at all. I'd like to keep it that way.

Back to the original question, if you want a good rifle for tactical shoots, GAP, Chris Matthews, and several other builders mentioned before can build you a rifle that will be competitive. There are very few secrets concerning the guns themselves. The secrets are behind the trigger, and those are developed from experience and from peers. Your 'peers' gave you some insight, it's your decision to do with it as you please.

If it were me, I would buy the best scope you think you could use and slap in on a Savage or Remington 308 and go out and learn some of the tricks of the trade. Then invest in a Stiller or Surgeon action that are fully functional out-of-the box actions for use in the tactical arena. Screw on a Krieger barrel if you wish and slap on that premier scope you already have with the stock of your choice, Joel Russo makes a nice A5L or go the McM route. Then you have the basic experience, top-of-the-line scope and a rig that won't disappoint.

Just to stir the pot a bit further....

Let the young'n correct you a lil if ya don't mind mister. They do not guarentee .25 moa. They guarentee .25 moa or better as posted on their website.
Maybe- No you were wrong WADR. Just being blunt so don't beat me up for it.
As for as your opinion on Tacops building the best tactical platform available, your not far off trust me. Mike @ Tacops and Mike at TBA are the only companies guarenteeing .25 moa or better.
My research for the perfect tactical rifle ended about a week ago when Mike @ Tacops referred me to Mike @ TBA. I was looking for the closest thing to an actual USMC M40A3 I could find. The only thing that doesn't make it an actual USMC M403 is the fact that the USMC builds their own. Mike Lau @ TBA is building it exactly the same in exception of one minor difference, "which I believe is 1 bolt screw" but it has to do with the USMC wanting to be able to switch the stock out in the field quickly if need be.

Bring the new rifle to the Tac Pro,Texas) 400 yd clay pigeon shoot in September or next spring. This is open to everybody and you can shoot off of a mat or bring your own table. We will see how well you do against a variety of competitors. I have friends with 1 that has won titles here in Texas shooting the tactical matches. He will be there as well--Speedy goes to these and we will see how well you can do against him. BTW I only finished a couple of places behind him so as they say "If you want to talk the talk ya gotta walk the walk"! Maybe bring your rifle to a IBS,I shoot in Missouri)1k or 600 yd match and see how your skills compare as there is a lot more to this sport than just the rifle.

That sounds like fun... I wish I could get to Texas for it... I love shooting clay piegons... And 400 yards would be even doable for my Howa1500s with 52grainers if the wind is calm.

What are the rules for that sort of shoot? Since I can't be in Texas, perhaps I can figure out how to sponsor one at the local range?

I've never tried to shoot the 60mm clays at that range. I usually shot the 90mm variety at that range no problem. Then I got tired of walking up the hill at the range that is 400 yards at the local range so I purchased a reactive target that is about 3.5x3.5 inches square so now I shoot that! Saves me from all that terrible exercise!

I am wanting to put together a rifle that is highly accurate with atleast .25 moa. I know their are people out there that build these types of rifle's like tactical operations inc. that use Krieger barrel's and whatever else and make tac drivers. But they cost almost 4,500.00... I am not interested in spending $4000+ on a rifle by all means since I am actually kind of poor in the pocketbook.
I do need some input if someone could point me in the right direction with getting a real nice rifle going for a good price.

I need advice on the following option's:

*Stock type and recommeded companies
*Stock finish
*A variety of tactical actions similar to surgeons
*Barrel "I hear Krieger is hard to beat" but open to advice
*And lastly but most important, someone that's gunna put it all together for me and not gunna charge me my dominant eye to pay for it.

I talked to a guy at tactical operations, and he said he could put together a masterpiece in .308 in his x-ray rifle series. Yes they are nice, but I got the feeling I can have a rifle built just as nice as theirs at a cheaper rate if I take the right steps.

Some advice will be highly appreciated.

I have several hunting rifles which esentially are tactical configuration. They shoot a .25 3 shot group now and then but they are not .25MOA rifles. That is why i have two bench rifles that are expected to shoot sub .25 MOA everytime. $3000 is a generious budget, you should be able to find a adequate shooter (rifle, optics, reloading kit) to meet your budget.
