Attention: Ammo Hoarders

I have 1 and only 1 question alone for all your HOARDERS out there?

How do you store your ammunition? I'm running out of room myself and looking for ideas. ;D

Bring your stuff over, I will show you where to store it :)

Piss'n & moan'n about who buys ammo and what they do with it isn't going to change a thing. If you have the funds and want it, buy it. If you don't why P & M about it? You can't change a thing. :-X

"Hoarder" A guy with 35,000 rds of 22LR ammo, and doesn't own a 22LR gun to shoot it out of.

Hoarder is a bit strong a word, investor maybe a better term :)

I say this because I have a question and answer. What is the difference between a ammo hoarder and a the average shooter? Funds.. Tell me you wouldn't buy up every bullet or supply that you see go across the classifieds that relates to your arsenal!

Anyone who is buying "every bullet or supply that you see..." at this time is far from being an astute "investor." That is, the actual raw materials involved in the process are actually decreasing in price at the same time the cost of labor is stable or slightly increasing due to the excess labor pool. Accordingly, the cost to produce the product is not increasing (might be decreasing slightly) and any price increase at the manufacturer level is pure, albeit fleeting, profit. Of course, we all know that most of the price increases we are seeing are at the wholesaler and/or at the retail level.

The fact of the matter is that when demand is driven by irrational fear and greed at the same time, you would be wise to keep your investing money in your pocket.

If I did have to draw parallels to an investing situation, I would compare your "investor" to the average, uninformed, "retail investor" who most often buys HIGH and sells LOW!

Jim,
I do that often.

A cool dry place. ;D

107g SMK, 115g DTAC's hit the classifieds and poof they are gone.. I would suggest these folks are investing in what they want to shoot even though if they waited to fall they may get it cheaper..I only buy what I need or intend to use and don't usually keep something around I don't intend to use.. I just wish some folks would ease up on .22's.

My turn--If all goes well this October will be 66 years on this earth and in the past I have been caught in the same position as the ones that are crying about "Hoarders"
We went through the same scenario in the 90's with primers as we are now with Primers/bullets ( They have gotten easier to find) Powder and 22/Rimfire ammo.
I have NOT taken a Vacation in 20 years- my home is paid for All three of my vehicles are loan free and when I see ammo or powder that I shoot I buy it.
I buy the powders that I shoot in 8 lb kegs -primers in 5,000 and 22 ammo --NON-PLATED anyway I can-- Box, carton or case-between rimfire and centerfire I shoot 5-10,000 rounds a year.

In the past month I have purchased CCI Standard Velocity , 17 HMR, 22 Mag and even some BULK 22 LR and I DO NOT spend a lot of time scouting stores all at REASONABLE prices.
The 22 Mag was sold to a fellow worker-the bulk was given to a local gun club and the rest is peacefully at home.

My recommendation is BUY IT WHEN U FIND IT-- forget about NOT having the cash--cut back on the NEWEST and BEST/BIGGEST cell phone-u talk on it HOW "SMART" does it have to be--70" TV Really is that needed didn't you just do that LAST YEAR ??.
We all have a certain amount of "Play $$" it is how you use it that counts

Now if I can figure out a way to live long enough to shoot all this --I will B a Happy Man LOL

You're trying to tell me there are people out there that don't own a .22?

INCONCEIVABLE!

Usually they are the ones complaining about the NRA. I have 2 .22LR rifles, a 30 year old 10/22 and a Marlin tube fed autoloader

I'M not a HOARDER as such as most of my ammo is not in one piece, have been moving things around my gun room and found more bullets than i thought i had also primers and cases so now if we don't have a BIG run on powder I'm set for life and I'm now 68 so.

Wake up people!!!!!! the EPA is raiding brass recyclers here in Montana ....twice!!!, they are taking black guns in Con. and SC. california just passed a
24million dollar a year bill to finance taking firearms from state decided unfit
owners (just like Iraq) probably using all the government trained DOOR KICKERS...........The EPA is NOW a extension of BATF.....machine guns, kevlar, helmets, armored personnel carriers.........lead is bad, 22's are bad, guns are
bad and YOU yes YOU are BAD for having one.........so WE the Government are
going to take it or lock you up along with the 2.1 million presently behind bars or
to save tax dollars just kill you....Hoarding is like sucking your thumb, it will pacify you for the moment but the near future is evolving into a dark time for
America...........the dollar is failing daily and ammo will be the future currency
as gold and silver will have no value or use...........sooner then you think.....

So I'm sucking my thumb. What do you suggest? Am I supposed to give my weapons and ammo to you?

My problem is with the people who line up at wally world, or where ever with the sole purpose of buying all the ammo they put out to sell at 4X the prices. I know a lot of you don't buy/shoot ammo from wally world and for the most part I don't either, haven't bought any from there in years. Some guys have said this capitalism, ok. What if some wealthy individual decided to buy all the gas from the local stations, had tankers sitting at them waiting for the next load to unload so they could buy it and take it to their storage facility and sell it from their own station at 4x the going rate. Still capitalism? How would you guys react? I know it's an exaggeration and I meant it to be. But didn't a pair of brothers in Texas try to do something similar with silver years ago?

Justin, I enjoyed your analogy above...well stated.
