At what point is a RAD worth it?

I have one on my .308 ftr rifle and I really love it. My backup ftr rifle doesnt have it and I shoot just fine without it, but I like the way it shoots with it on. Its pretty subtle difference though even on lightest setting. The only downside that i can see is that it makes making weight harder. At least in ftr.

My main competition rifle is equipped with a RAD. It normally wears a 7-6.5 PRC, barrel and I have 6 Dasher and 7mm Walker barrels chambered for the action (and a .473 bolt . . .).

With regard to either of the 7mms, 60 for record plus sighters, no big deal. 100 or 120 for record plus sighters (and above) and I'm glad for the RAD. Now, with the Dasher barrel on the gun, I just enjoy every single shot. Breaking a shot on a 21-pound 6 Dasher with a RAD makes me smile. It's like shooting my .20 Practical, where I can see the holes appear on the paper without a brake.

If the 6mm were my mainstay, I would not have a RAD on the gun, but its presence adds to the enjoyment. If your bullet of choice is 140 gr. or heavier, go with the RAD. If you have a barrel chambered for a 6mm, you'll really enjoy the ride on those occasions when you decide to go light. My two cents' worth.

Get the RAD and then you will be ready to shoot what ever cartridge your feel like. I have them on all my f class centerfire rifles.
