ASS KICKIN

Yup 65 a couple of days ago . I dont even dare lift the guns I build , especially when cased up . Thing our parents never told us .

They actually had a shooting range near me that was called Shooting Golf. They had 18 shooting pads scattered arounds the hills complete with covers and benches. The steel targets at each station were different sizes and ranges similar to PRS. You drove from hole to hole on ATVs. They had a wildfire burn most of the course up a couple years ago. I wanted to try it but all I had at the time was BR rifles. To much hassle to load and unload at each hole. I am going to ride out and see if they are going to rebuild it. I have a real heavy varmint rifle that shoots good off a bi-pod now. Might give it a try.

Well Tod........you’re the only one! I just googled “pics of old guys shooting PRS” and found NOTHING!!

Weii, PRS now has a forum on this site. Accurate Shooter is not just for 6BR any longer.
I fell into the USPSA trap years ago and spent almost all my time, effort and $ there for over 20 years. About the time I figured out my reflexes had slowed, my feet had gotten fat and my sore spots got larger PRS came along. Didn't take much for me to see another USPSA "trap" there so I have stayed in the observer category.
BTW, I am 67 YO
Sounds like PRS needs to become more inclusive. They need to add classes for the older folks, like Vet, Senior Vet and ROF....Really Old Farts.

I am planning to shoot a 2 day score match this week end and expect to be beat up afterwards. Not moving or lifting anything for the last 10 weeks recovering from surgery I am sure I will know that I was doing something over the weekend.
69 years old but still trying to beat the odds.

At 77, this may be my last time at Perry. Fortunately they allow us old farts to start in position for sitting, otherwise it would take me the full allotted time to get my first shot off

If your goal is to be competitive with this bunch, you're in for big disappointment, or many. If you can be content to just challenge yourself and enjoy the sport for what it is you'll be ok. I, myself, have not gotten to that point so far.; cannot handle the embarrassment.

Couple years ago at Perry I dropped into my rapid prone and just about thought I was gonna need a medic to get me up and he k out my condition....

Getting old is a privilege denied many. Just remember that and do the best you can. I say stick with it, if you liked any of the stages or the style of shooting. Compete only against your self. Then when you are not finishing dead last strive to gain one more slot above that... Of course it is easy for me to say. I am only 59.. lol... and fat... :(

I tell you what........there were LOTs of 40-60 year olds that CRUSHED it!!! They were a different shape than me....not as round....or soft!!

We ALL walked and shot the same stages, which is the part that kicked my ass....trying to shoot positions when you are wrecked from the hills. I KNEW I would take an ass kickin by the more experienced shooters, but NOT by the course of fire itself!! Like i said....I was a giant THREE TOED BED SLOTH all winter.....and now I gotta pay!! I think I'll blame the RONA!!! You know you are in trouble when one of the stages was called "RUN"!! LOL

If we could set up a PRS type shooting, setup more like playing a round of golf....
Shoot from differeft positions, scoring hits.
Then leasurely walk or golf cart to next stage..
I'd be in for that! :D

If i wanted to drag a bummy for a certain distance, and run to the next stage to shoot, i'd have joined Marine Corps Sniper training.
I’ve got just the place for you. Pigg River Precision in Rocky Mount, VA has monthly PRS matches. Max walking distance is about 250 yds. and mostly flat. If you have to park at the bottom of the hill, someone will probably get you a ride up to the stage area. The place looks better than some of the golf courses in the area.
