As a kid, what gun did you dream of owning?

Ruger 99/44 Deerfield carbine
Remington 700 vssf in 22-250
Ruger 77 markII skeleton 308(killed my first and many more deer with one that my dad still owns)

I always wanted a "Colt .45." A 1911. I bought a Kimber Classic Stainless Gold Match back in 1999, and I still have it. Cost $1,200.00 back then. Very happy with it.

I got caught up in the Saturday afternoon matinee at the local theatre that featured mostly westerns, so I wanted a revolver and a lever action rifle. Later on I got to shoot a lever action 22 on my uncles farm in Minnesota. I own a late fifties Marlin Golden Mountie the grandsons use to shoot.

Had a friend with a "modified" Tommy Gun that was FULL AUTO.
Never wanted one BUT, sure was fun to shoot.
Had to stash it in the bushes till the Cops left so we could get it and get out of there!!:eek:

Winchester 61! Used my uncles to clean out his squirrels every time I visited. I did not inherit his, but do have one in my collection now.

I was the only one with the itchy trigger finger in a family of fisherman. My idea of fun fishing was to use live bait with a float, then tie the line around a toe and take a nap. I just enjoyed shooting uncles or in-laws firearms whenever I got the chance, never advanced to the stage of dreaming about or buying firearms until much later. I shot a single action revolver owned by my brother in law when I was twelve and I thought it was really cool but neither he nor I can remember what it was! Finally bought my first revolver - a smith snubby carry gun - in my forties, but didn’t really scratch my revolver itch until I bought a 6-1/2” stainless single six at the age of 50. I have a few more nice revolvers in three other calibers, almost all are stainless with wood grips, including one of the new Pythons. As for total firearms I’m well into the I’ve lost count stage now, making up for lost time!

Model 37 Winchester. My first gun came Christmas 1973. I found it hidden in our basement and would sneak down on a daily basis to check on it. Christmas is for kids!!
I shot my Pappy's spare 37 for years after he moved on to a Browning A5. It was a 12 gauge and worked better for dog driving than the 16 gauge 870 I had because I could use 00 buckshot instead of number 1. It had the corn cob forend and a 30" full choked barrel and would kick the fillings out of this 8 year olds teeth. I killed a lot of deer with that gun.

As a teenager, I always thought a Weatherby in .300 Weatherby magnum was the coolest rifle ever. As a young adult in my 20s, I got a chance to shoot one. While the recoil was heavy, I still thought it was cool. In my early 30s, I had a chance to buy a new one, but passed because ammo was so expensive. While I was in Sheridan Wyoming earlier this year, I visited the Weatherby factory. Another chance to buy one, but I did not.
So, I guess I don't really want one anymore. I still think they're cool though.

Along with the 870 Special Field mentioned earlier, I also dreamed of a Remington 700 BDL in 17 Remington, and a Ruger 77/22. I couldn't remember shit in school but I could recite the muzzle velocity of that Remington 25 grain Power-Lokt ammo.

A local group of wintertime fox hunters ran 17 Remingtons and we thought they were kings, although their ethics may have been questionable at times.
