As a kid, what gun did you dream of owning?

For some reason, I latched onto the Ithaca 22, model 49, lever action. The Marlin 56 was in the running too. Never owned either of them! And I vividly remember the Shooters Bible with bobcat on the cover.

I wanted a winchester lever gun in 357 for my first rifle when I was little. My dad made me get a 22 instead and it probably had to do with the cost of ammo which I did not appreciate at such a young age. Still want one but never enough to go buy one. The other was a weatherby mark v in 257 as a teenager. Just seemed cool to have such a huge hot rod cartridge. As an adult who could go buy either, I always seem to have better uses for the money.

My Mom's Father's Colt Bisley in 32-20. I got the pistol several years later, after my uncle foolishly had it converted to 38 Spl. It still shoots, but is a bit loose.
After that, a bit of everything. Double rifles for Africa, and custom long range Rockchuck rifles.

I actually liked the 1911 and Luger a lot as a kid, I thought they were engineered very well. The 9422 Winchester rifle was a gotta have too. As soon as I was old enough I bought a 22 magnum and terrorized many woodchucks with that rifle.

The first gun I can remember really wanting was a lever action BB gun that looked like a Winchester 94. My dad bought me a Daisy “centennial” rifle at Sears and Robuck that looked just like one. Boy what I do to have that back. There wasn’t a chipmunk within a half a mile of my house that was safe. And yes, my mother thought I was going to shoot my eye out!! I remember drooling over the Weatherby rifles and their glossy stocks, but the first high-power rifle I really wanted was a Remington 700 BDL in 25–06.IMG_2630.jpeg
