Arizona or California- You Choose

When I read this about Arizona, I couldn't help but think, "there's another state I am glad I don't live in." Thing is, I thought Arizona was a lots different than California. Guess I was wrong; correction, proven wrong. Where else can you travel out of the country, violate the foreign country's laws, and then return to your home state and be crowned citizen of the year? I won't even mention the rest.

Sir, This was from a leftist news rag, not the people of Arizona. You can't compare the Arizona folks to some Kalif. jokers.

I live Arizona, one of the most gun friendly states you’ll find and the long term residents of this state by and large are good people who still have sense of country and a few morals. Are we getting over run, yes we are but we dang sure aren’t anywhere near what’s going on in Cali. Most western states are getting big influxes of people who dream of living out west and enjoying the lifestyle but the first thing they want to do is change it.

As far as the Arizona Republic goes, the source of the OP’s post, they lean so far left their nose is to the ground. Radical and they certainly don’t represent the majority of this state especially outside the Phoenix metro mess.

I’m sorry we left a good man in Russia and got her back. Sad.

Shoving around through the usual "Omega Man" scene at the grocery store today was daydreaming about a page long post I might make to this forum ... so far better judgment has prevailed. We are in central Virginia and we are experiencing a military level crushing invasion from folks escaping northern states. In what ten years ago was rural Mayberry we have now have debauchery. Traffic is up five ~ ten times what it was, bumper-to-bumper on rural backroads. Many times I've pulled-over on one-lane gravel roads to let vehicles with out of state plates to pass. Sirens and flashing lights in the streets and people lying in gutters and beggars and car crashes. You wanna' go 50 MPH in a 15? Do it! Be our guest! Go 50 MPH in a 15, who'll stop you? Happens constantly. Invading militaries don't check driving laws or speed limits. Takes three light changes to make it through an intersection. In retail stores there are buggy crashes and chaos and half an hour to check out with twelve items. Several months ago, in the middle of a grocery store buggy traffic jam, there were women casually standing in the middle of the most busy traffic path saying, "AND SO, IS EVERYONE FROM SCHENECTADY DOWN HERE NOW?!!!" And it's clear they want to put their Birkenstocks on the nonconformist's throats. I've wondered how folks can let their lands go over to the wrong side and I'm seeing it in real time. If you're created your "Paradise" elsewhere, why come here?

Cc you can't get mad at whole state for what a few liberal journalists said that work at a woke newspaper. I would love to live in Texas but not Austin.
Ok. I get it. I just always thought that Arizona was one of those states that stood for core values and did not muddle the line between right and wrong.

This may just be another sign of these confused times. Use to be right was right, wrong was wrong, a boy was a boy, a girl was a girl, and we had zero trouble telling the difference.

I don’t think this has anything to do with liberals or conservatives. Again, it’s core values. The way I was raised, you got punished when you did wrong and a lots of time that was an ass whipping with water oak branches that did not break from Mom, or a belt or green military strap form Dad; you did not receive an award.

For those of you in Arizona who understand what I just wrote and can relate to it, my first post was not intended for you.

Were I the family of American Hero Pat Tillman I would return the "honor".
Naming Brittney Griner "Arizonan of the Year" is akin to electing Putin POTUS.
They both have and show the same hatred for the United States.
Isn't the "Bypass" Bridge named after Tillman?
Maybe name a tunnel in "her" honor..

It's not just confined to a few particular states. It's everywhere. People move out of rural areas to urban areas to 'get away from the city'. Then proceed to do everything they can to turn the rural area into an urban area. And then they don't understand why they aren't welcomed with open arms by those who have lived their entire lives there, sometimes over several generations.

The capacity of people to ruin anything good is limitless.

There is a woman who notoriously hails from a state that considers itself to be an "Empire State" in our rural community, who has throughly ensconced herself into the local election process like a tick. She is without missing a date as an official at our election station.

We're not there yet, not quite there yet, but the time will come when she looks at a voter's ballet that doesn't support her candidate and puts it into the trash in front of everyone's eyes. As it is, she looks at them and openly grumbles. It's getting blatant in former rural Mayberry

Well written. All the people I know can be grouped in paragraph one.

I still live in Mayberry, Alabama.
I left San Antonio TX when the crime & taxes got so bad. And don't get me started on the illegals or Northerners.

I've only lived in AZ 15 years but this is the first time I've heard of the Arizonian of the year award. Who cares.
