MAXIMUM AGE to Buy a Firearm

Recently I’ve become convinced a maximum age to serve as US President might be a good idea. Maximum age to drive a vehicle? I’ve seen enough scary situations to contemplate the concept.
I’ll leave it at that.

i like the one where a driver is 50 feet from the stop light and suddenly decides he needs to be 3 lanes to one side or the other of where he/she is. George Carlan is right if 4 people decide you need corrected you should pull them over and each take a wheel off his car.

The maximum age would vary with the age you die. Charleton said it best. "When they pull it from my cold, dead hands."
It appears many here are older experienced shooters, and I am older myself, so this story got my attention. Unbelievable. You can give a reaction to story. I did. A "thumbs down".

This is a non-issue, debating which trains the mind to consider parameterised gun control. It's a sneaky mental trick, which relies on the subconcious reference to what age is too young to own guns, implying there is an age that is too old.

No old person is going to put themselves or anyone else in harms way by using a firearm they can't handle.

We don't even walk too fast without necessary care.

There was once a 80-something year old WWI vet in the UK that took down a few kids that set on him with knives using a pepper-box revolver. Between then and now the UK lost it's balls.

The political ruling class, acting as if they are still a colony of the UK, is coming for the US' balls next.

Ban, ban, ban. It's about all that's considered, by those who despise the BOR and the rule of law.

We've ALREADY got the constraints on misbehavior in place, state by state. The statutes. They work well. They hold actual miscreants accountable ... that is, at least when the police, DAs and judges running trials do their bloody jobs.

The statutes. They specify the dividing line between appropriate and intolerable behavior. They specify what gets dealt to the miscreant when committing such crime.

No need for federal crap to be piled on, let alone unconstitutional crap. It helps nothing. It dumps on the upstanding to declare some variable equates to behavior (or one's fear of another's risk of behavior).

Simplest and constitutionally justifiable thing? Await such behavior, then deal with it appropriately (even harshly). Quite simply, that's the only way it leaves unalienable liberty intact, and it also happens to be the least costly in terms of legislative bumbling and administrative fiddling. Keeps off the backs of everybody except the miscreants.

Works very well. Only fails when the putzes we hire deliberately inject sand into the process.

K22,

In Alabama and Georgia, pretty much anything under 50K is tax free if no other sources of income. Check with a reliable accountant or tax attorney for your state. You still have to file for the Feds.
