It's easy to arm chair things. I am certainly not trained. But when I read about things like a guy's account in living through the Kosovo conflict and when I read Massad Ayoob in American Handgunner (his column is free on the American Handgunner site), or when I watch:

I'm pretty amazed at how badly things can go wrong and when reading about Kosovo, just what becomes important - it's not what you think right off the cuff.

I don't have the money or the desire to go through the courts on a shooting nor do I ever want to shoot anyone. I am thinking of upping my game on less than lethal self protection. though. I'm going to invest in a good level III soft vest and a Fast Strike tool. It's one thing to be attacked in your home, but it is more concerning to me to be in public and attacked by trouble makers.

Very good question, and I'm pretty sure the answer is that unless you've had a crap ton of training, you'll never really know how you'll react until faced with the situation.

Case in point: Not long ago a homeless fella walked into a church here in Texas with a shotgun under his long coat. After a brief conversation with one of three armed guards, he pulled his shotgun and started firing. He fatally shot two of the guards before being shot in the head by the third who by that time was shooting over the heads of parishioners as the assailant was on the move to engage other targets.

All of 6 seconds elapsed from the time he produced the shotgun to the time his brains blew out the side of his skull. The whole thing was video recorded in HD, including time stamp.

Two of three trained and experienced ex police officers died that day. What would I do?

I have no idea.
I'm with Texas10 here, with 20 years in the Army i'm still not convinced it's that easy!! Remember, everyone has a plan until the first punch (or shot) is throwen. Please have an exit plan in place for the ones you love. Thanks
Thanks Bill

In these situations it's hard to say exactly what we will do. But, it's a good plan to know where your stuff is and quickest way to it. ( Don't know about yall but I sleep with mine and keep it at an arms reach daily ) And, as mentioned if the need arises to cause pointing it at one, you would be foolish to not pull the trigger and keep pulling it until you feel better.
Well,,, why'd shoot him six times!? answer; 'Cause after that it just went click, click, click

They give medals now for being stupid? Schon of a bichst! You go there looking for trouble and you find it and you deserve a medal?
Let's see. He shot 3 convicted felons. Two won't be missed at all and the third won't be opening his own pickle jars anytime soon...yeah that's medal worthy.

On a personal note: I am SO so glad I just moved to the sticks in Texas! I’m pretty far away from the rabble! The only mobs I see are the deer at feeding time!;)
Me too kind of the same situation out in the sticks of Tennessee and I am in the middle of 50 acres if I see someone they will be looking down the barrel of a gun they’ve been on my property for a while Also climbed over a fence or gate to get here

your already in a database and noted, but someone else has all your hairs noted also..you know
The IRS knows where you live, how much money you make, who is in your family. The NSA has your Phone Number, the FBI will show up at 5:00 am with a CNN crew in tow to film it on for the Bubble Headed Bleach Blondes to do a report on.

And Anna Nicole married for money, the libs through state/local governments and courts have made it very tough to legally protect property. Always "I was afraid for my life", "I want a lawyer".

I’m by no means arrogant or foolish enough to believe that I am prepared for all potential threats, but there are definitely softer targets to be considered before coming to my house.

u got that right lol

For me most of those videos are too hard to follow in real time speed. I would say that Rittenhouse went to Kenosha looking for trouble and he found it. WTF does some Illinois idiot think that he's going to go to Wisconsin and play vigilante? Screw him.

You realize he lived pretty much on the state line and Kenosha was where he normally shopped etc, right?

The problem I have with a guy running around in a riot with an AR is it makes me nervous. When I get nervous I protect myself. Therefore that guy is a target. I’m not gonna ask him what side he’s on. Don’t care, I’m nervous! Do unto others first! Before they do unto you.

He clearly made some mistakes. He shouldn't have even been there. But that doesn't remove his right to defend himself. Those who though they would attack a guy with an AR15 at the ready made much a much bigger mistake.

True. And he may get an acquittal just that.

Shoot someone in a liberal political entity and you'll run out of money defending yourself. Logic and common sense will go out the window with that type of jury.

I live so far in the sticks (I literally have a 200 yard range in the front yard) that if god-forbid a situation arises at my home the first thing I'm going to do is wait 30 minutes. If the blue lights don't show up by then it never happened.

If my buddy who’s been promising me this for over a year would ever get his dozer to my house I will have a 375 yard range in my backyard

The kid should not have to have been in that position.
Unfortunately the powers that run the city decided it would be wise to tell the law enforcement force responsible for controlling the situation to stand down, leaving civilians to fill the void left by said decision.
It really stinks that in today's day and age a 17 year old kid had to step in and fill that void but it's not the 1st time in our nations history that's happened.

If thousands of people would stand up and act more like him all this crap would not be happening right now I was very impressed with his discretion and skill assessing the threat and which targets were threatening and just not spraying into the crowd for someone his age

Couldn't have said it any better.
