It's easy to arm chair things. I am certainly not trained. But when I read about things like a guy's account in living through the Kosovo conflict and when I read Massad Ayoob in American Handgunner (his column is free on the American Handgunner site), or when I watch:
I'm pretty amazed at how badly things can go wrong and when reading about Kosovo, just what becomes important - it's not what you think right off the cuff.
I don't have the money or the desire to go through the courts on a shooting nor do I ever want to shoot anyone. I am thinking of upping my game on less than lethal self protection. though. I'm going to invest in a good level III soft vest and a Fast Strike tool. It's one thing to be attacked in your home, but it is more concerning to me to be in public and attacked by trouble makers.
