Pistol is first line of defense. It lets me get to the AR-15 which will defeat body armor.
And pigs sometimes.
Just don't point it at someone unless absolutely necessary.
For starters I don't believe the subject is burglars. This statement is nearly as idiotic as "I told Jill to just blast a couple shots from that 12 gauge off into the night".If you're talking burglar then just the sound of the action being cycled for a pump shotgun [if that's possible] is often enough to make a burglar rethink his mission.
True,True, and True,,I don't care what some say,it's not easy to just point and shoot someone,it takes a toll on you mentally, even in wartime.Very good question, and I'm pretty sure the answer is that unless you've had a crap ton of training, you'll never really know how you'll react until faced with the situation.
Case in point: Not long ago a homeless fella walked into a church here in Texas with a shotgun under his long coat. After a brief conversation with one of three armed guards, he pulled his shotgun and started firing. He fatally shot two of the guards before being shot in the head by the third who by that time was shooting over the heads of parishioners as the assailant was on the move to engage other targets.
All of 6 seconds elapsed from the time he produced the shotgun to the time his brains blew out the side of his skull. The whole thing was video recorded in HD, including time stamp.
Two of three trained and experienced ex police officers died that day. What would I do?
I have no idea.
