I agree 100% and will add that if you need help with anything there are many there that will go out of their way to help you and help you be successful.

We are the same way at ORSA as well. I have found it to be this way at most of the top notch ranges that I have visited in past years.

Mark,
Glad to hear that, the range I shoot at ( Deep Creek Range ) in Missoula Montana is the same way! It is about 4 hours north of me and I am headed there this weekend for the first shoot of the year, it has been very much winter here until the last two day's I hope it is nice when we arrive, but either way it will be fun, hope you all have a great year.

Wayne, Good luck to you! If nothing else have fun and learn all you can. If we stop learning we are dead in the water! ;D

BS,
I actually live in S.E Washington and drive 250 miles to Missoula Montana which is gods country for sure.

Mark,
I had a lot of fun and learned a bunch, it was windy and cold but I was able to pull off a 8.5" and a 9.5" group, nothing to brag about but I had fun. my son shot two 8.5" groups. We had a lot of fun and learned a ton. I can't wait until the next match. I was having some pressure problems with my 6*284 my sons little 6brx performed great and we will continue load development for it next week, and as per usual the guy's at the deep creek range was very helpful and made us feel welcome. Best of luck to you all.
Wayne.

I wish that some group would start up like this in peoples republic of new york,LOL We have almost nowhere to go with in a hundred miles radius.

Mark,
Hows the competing going?
BTT for a good topic.

Wayne,
It's going great. I enjoy ever match I shoot even if I shoot bad. I end up learning something. I just got my classifaction card for mid range 2 days ago. I was hoping to be Masters, but I guess my hopes were to high ;D. The NRA has me Classified as Expert at mid range. It's all good tho! I'll just have to work harder at reading the wind and stay out of that dang 9 ring! ;)

I haven't got my classifaction for Long Range yet. I guess I still don't have enough rnds down range at 1000yd to be classified yet ???
Thanks
Mark

Mark,
I missed my last match I couldn't get off work >:( My next match is the 14th and 15th, I had surgery on my eye today I hope I am healed up enough to make it, I am sure I will be. I never pulled the 6*284 and put the 6brx on my Diamond Back so I guess I will finish the season with the big 6 and start new next year with the 6brx. How have you been shooting? my wind reading skills are practically non-existent, I am learning but it is frustrating, are you getting any better at it? I can't beleive this thread didn't take off ??? either EVERYBODY is in LR BR or there really isn't any interest ??? Anyway I hope all is well with you Mark and good luck ;)
Wayne.

Wayne,
Yes I'm getting a little better at reading wind. One thing I do is...I make it a point to learn something everytime I shoot. Don't get too frustrated with it. It will come. I still have a very long way to go as far as becoming one of the top shooters. So much to figure out! I may never become one of the top shooters, but I love the sport, and I love comp! It never gets boring, because there is always someone on the firing line that has the ability to out shoot you. Regardless of how good you are! I'm trying to get out and shoot Fclass matches at different ranges. Experince differnt conditions. I'm shooting at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville NC in two weeks. I have never been there so I'm excited to see different conditions for wind! Camp Butner is a tough range to shoot. The way the range is laid out makes for brutal switching winds! However it will teach you a lot!

This Thread has been viewed over 1000 times. So that is a good thing! I went to Camp Butner completely in the dark. Shot my first match there. Up until that day of my first match of any kind ever. I had done nothing but shoot on private land that family members own. Shooting at 1000yrds has basicly been a dream for me since I was 14 or 15yr old. I was 35 when I shot that first match witch was not so long ago. My desire to compete, and shoot at a distance that I had yearned FOR....so many years finally over came my fears. With the help of a email from one member of NSSC....Gave me that extra little push to just go do it! Like I said in the very beginning At Camp Butner you will be around some of the best shooters in the country! However you will feel right at home, Welcomed, and it seems that when you need help ppl come out of the wood works to help you out! Just a great place to shoot, and atmosphere to be a part of!
Thanks
Mark

Boogershooter,
You are correct!! MONTANA is God's country, or as I like to say, where he did his best work. I live just south of Glacier National Park, between Kalispell and Columbia Falls. I still can't get over the majestic beauty of this place. They should have all the snow off the GOING TO THE SUN ROAD by July 4th, so don't come to visit before then. With all the snow we had this winter the folks living down stream are going to have problems in about a week. The temps are getting warm (finally) and the run-off begins.

Wayne,
When are you going to Missoula (Deep Creek) next.

Barry

Wayne, Barry, Tom
Midddle of May and there is still snow on the ground? ;D I'm not in shock and all, but living in the Southeastern part of the US You don't think about Snow after March. We have got some snow in Apr. before, but that was several years ago. Biggest snow I can remember here in NC was 16" and that was 8 or 9yrs ago. We did get about 4" in Feb. of this year and that shuts everything down around here ;D Always loved the Rocky Mountains, I have been once. I was in Cimarron NM. The Wife and I have discussed taking a 2 or 3 week vacation and Driving to Yellowstone in the next cpl of years. Our Son just needs to be a little older before we take him on that long and that much driving right now. He is only 19mos now.

I agree with Barry! although only seening pics of a distance cousin that has done some elk hunting in Montana. I have to say the Majestic veiws IMO was GOD showing off! WOW! It is beautiful Out there!!
