All IBS LR nationals will now be shot in IBS using Bench Rotation only!! NO Relay rotation.

I was told that the rewrite of Long Range Rule book was to clarity the wording and not change the rules but this is not what happen some rules were changed and when this went down it was stated on IBS website for clarification of the rules only So why and how did this happen ?

Simple. The IBS E board has historically had a hands off policy on LR. They do not like it or understand it but the sheer number of LR shooters keeps the IBS afloat as an organization. They in actuality do not care what the LRC does. Look at the numbers.

The LRC knew that and took full advantage of the E boards willful blindness. If you look carefully at the old and new rules book many changes of it were personal pet peeves of LRC members in my opinion, not clarifications of existing rules. At the same time the LRC knows that 90% of the shooters have never read the rule book and took full advantage of that. Also is it a 99.9% given that if an agenda item gets thru the year trial period that the voters will automatically pass it. The LRC knew tbe could do what they petdonally wanted and the no one really cared. More importantly it was not like the E board was not told repeatedly this was happening. They were told it was happwning, knew it and flat out did not care as it was not short range!!!! They are all short range shooters except one. My word of warning is be very careful who you vote this year for the LR rep to the E Board.

That is a reason why the LR shooters would actually be better off with their own organization. $500 of pass around trophies and some patches is all they give to LR.

I'm glad this subject came up! Because I was not aware of what was going on because at the National last year in GA. I had the last relay all 6 matches and no one explained to me why that happens! And yes it SUCKS! Why not just go back to drawing your own chip like in the old days, that way it was mixed up and you picked what you got. So you only have yourself to blame.
So yes I'm with Herman on this one. Everything seem to be getting changed and yes i'm an IBS member and did not get any notification as to how this was going down.
And there are a few other thing I'm not going to mention that people were not told ahead of the match.

Joe I agree with drawing your own chip. Relays need to be rotated with benches and that is how it was done at one time. How can a computer pick same person for one Nationals to the next Nationals first relay but that is what happen from Ga to Whitehorse and to shoot first relay every day and they call this what ?

Here is your third agenda item. It is long past the time for the LR members to vote for LRC members. The LR is getting too big to allow hand picking members by the LRC. Set it up with equal mix of 600 and 1000 and regions. Understand there might be a new club or two next year to add to the mix.

Also consider one central range to be the site of the nationals with different clubs hosting and running the event. Rules right now say it should be central ideally. Line 516 new rules.

I'm not a benchrest competitor. Can someone please explain to me why you would want to rotate benches? Does one bench really offer an advantage vs another?

Myself I believe benches and relay should be mixed to make it more fare! Each day you should be on a different relay and different bench. My thoughts are the Computer sees Names and clumps them the same way almost every time. Chips are the only fair way to go! It's not like we don't have time the night before the match to draw. A different bucket of chips for each match.

Anytime there is a National Championship at stake someone is going to leave feeling shorted. I'm sure each club does their best to limit this but it is inevitable.
When rules are mandated by a few and not voted on by the whole their will always be issues.
For every rule you have it takes 10 to define the interpretation and even then someone will interpret it to their advantage if they can.
I know before the 2016 Nationals I worked 7 days a week 7 weeks before them to prepare. As far as I know we did everything as we were supposed to but this is like duck hunting with the warden standing around the bend in the river.
Stanley I am praying for a speedy recovery and rebuild of your shop. Please reframe from making any further comments about what was done at the 2016 Nationals at CA it is behind us and I want no part of this. We are trying to grow here.
Good Luck!

Let's see who can come up with the best proposal. Circular firing squads are detrimental to our sport.
Ill start... first off there needs to be a standard established for sight in day. We just paid 150 entry, travel, hotel, and so on just to show up and and realize nobody really has a clue what is going on. "Ugh pay jc ten dollars and find a line" really? One shooter at a time? C'mon sight in day was a joke. Second, there needs to be a recording of the wording that is stated prior to shooting. When it randomly changes or isnt the same as what other 1000 yard ranges do it creates confusion. I may be the odd man out by stating this but there is a long list of things that could have went better. At previous matches the standings were updated and posted after the first day, we requested something like this after the second day, to see if it was worth staying another night or not but got nothing. Im not saying this is an Ibs problem, the two nationals last year were 100 percent exceptional. I'll probably get bashed for this post, but i didnt really hear anybody that was thrilled with the lack of organization.

I had a Great time. I didn't win anything, but I didn't blame anyone but myself. I can live with it, because I gave it all I had. I'm relatively new to LRBR, but with all the help and support from new found friends in the sport, I'm progressing fairly well. My attitude is; shooting in, and Learning different Conditions, is exactly what is Improving my ability, Not Limiting it. I finished ahead of better shooters than myself, and was beat by lesser shooters just the same. That's Whitehorse!
While I understand not everything will ever please 100% of the people, 100% of the time, I do know for sure that the people that made this possible for us, gave 100% of their time, and effort, to pull it together.
Some things may need tweaked, like they Always will, but let's not beat up on the ones committed to keeping these shoots running for the rest of us, while we are freely involved, in our other (non-shooting) lives.
Most people don't realize the time, labor, headaches, meetings, sacrifices, traveling, phone calls, personal expenses, etc involved in holding National Events.

Thanks Again to All the behind the scenes help

I believe they are a lot of personal expenses to travel to these events and preparing.. If you are thinking about the future of the sport, making fair rotations should be common sense.. I do believe that the conditions were so random that relays were as bad early as they were late.. I don't think anyone is pointing fingers or trying to bust on certain people.. I do know enough people that think it's a lot of travel and expense to get six last relays.. I would not pay to do that knowing going in.. I strongly question the reason it would be implemented that way when it can be as easily done random and rotated fairly..
