If you've got a 0.006 gap to fill on your AR, you've got bigger problems.

For BCG tilt (I've read it's not critical for DI but more so for piston, don't know), I used a CTS Engineering Aktive Recoil buffer. Looks like he's not in business anymore. The downside of that one is you need to remove both takedown pins to disassemble the AR.
Apparently this one doesn't have that problem.

Yeah. The collet expands. Give it a little tappy tap and it'll be tight. The bar runs on centers and a lathe dog

I just used a piece of 1" TGP stock. One end in the chuck and a live center in the other end. The fit was tight enough that I did not need a lathe dog to drive it.

really depends on upper bore diameter. I have 2 URRs. One is standard, the other I had to turn down the diameter to fit my tighter uppers. So it fits pretty snug.

I mean, runout where the action face would be. On mine it's about 3 thou runout.

I don't bother with the lathe for the receiver face.
Shop-made mandrel and lapping compound, aluminum laps easily...

Hay just wanna thank everyone who's posting here , I'm an AR nut due to my budget and my love off being able to modify stuff on them without a gun Smith or lathe . Seem anytime I try and talk about these I usually just get told to buy a bolt gun but this post has been so helpful and insightful! Thank you all !

Same. Especially the bolt/gas system. I've gathered some of the tolerances over the years from his videos. He avoids saying the specs but sometimes they slip out.

This. Just did a little work for my brother, to help him out with his first AR-15 rifle build. We are very "green" when it comes to the AR-15 world. Looks like I may need one for myself! Lol. Enjoy seeing and reading about all the neat fixturing you guys are coming up with .
