From personal experience, on my rifle with pulsar xp50 and suppressor.
Two items to consider. Your range is limited by scope. So shorter barrel is not an issue.
The rifle with can is difficult to manage because even with 16" barrel you have additional 7-8" added.
I cut my barrel to 14" and pinned cherry bomb to make it legal, 16.2" total.
Saving on weight. And this 2" made difference getting in-out from buddy and moving around.
