No they are RZ's they came after the RD's, they were liquid cooled 350's with power valves. But I did have an RD also.

Until I dropped Direct TV a few weeks ago (it got too expensive for my usage), we did have MAV TV; not quite Speed Channel, but lots of good racing - way ahead of nothing.

Mine was red "were they all red"? Mine had an Excelsior also. It fit in the bed of my Bud's 66 396 El Camino. I guess I had mine a little later than I thought after remembering is new Elco.

A little too dear ever to be contemplated sitting in my driveway, an Elan S2 my third year in high school retailed for $4,226.00.
(I did test drive one once though at a dealership in Lake Forest Illinois.)
In today's inflated US $$ that's just $33,666.00, more than I've ever spent on daily transport.
(Learned of the passing last weekend of Sir Stirling Moss, another racing great from those days.)

Shirl Greer was running an AF/X Mopar at the first drag race I went to.
The lettering on the side of his car "TENSION" would actually crawl
the longer you stared at it. There were 5 similar cars at that track
for a match race appearance. Shirl was the winner, w/very low 5s
in the 1/8th mi. I've been hooked ever sense. I believe Shirl passed away
in 2018.
I'm just like you Hedgehog, I would love to have a 68 Hemi dart. An original
lite weight LO23 will bring on the high side of 200K depending on the fame
of the owner. I was fortunate to see Herb McCandless aka MR 4 Speed at
Beech Bend in his original all blue 68 dart. He had baddddd luck that day, he
dropped a drive shaft when he hit second gear. I was w/in 50 ft when it happened.
You cant imagine how violent that occurrence was. The car stopped forward movement
and the whole car trembled as the drive shaft beat the floor pan. LDS

Spent a few years back in the early 90's chasing the ASA series (American Speed Association) around the US and Canada racing on such famed asphalt tracks as Winchester, Salem, I-70, Anderson, Toledo, Berlin, Milwaukee, Nashville and the Minnesota State Fairgrounds just to name a few. Had some great times with my great friend, the late Tony Roper, who was tragically killed in a NASCAR Truck series race at Texas back in 2001. I was lucky enough to be the jackman on his crew for a couple of years. Sure miss him.

Ok right , I had forgot all about the RZ. I always lusted over a TZ 250 and lets not forget the 500's Kevin Schwantz and Wayne Rainey battles. Classic!
I have a neighbor about a 5 minute walk down the road in the rural area where we live with a way oversized garage that houses a neat collection of about 15 cars, mostly Mustangs. One of the most interesting among the non-Mustangs is a 1970 426 hemi Dart. That would be my favorite if it wasn't for the '67 427/435 'vette coupe complete with the factory handling package. Both are in essentially as new condition......

Sad day when he died. I never met him but always heard how he helped newbies in the sport. I raced Amateur Twins class in the Mid Atlantic Region many talked about him.
And don't forget the man that paved the way for those two, "King" Kenny Roberts, the yellow bike was Roberts commemorative. A friend of mine sold a TZ 500 about five years ago and offered to let me ride it before it went. I decided to just listen to it and watch the pipes smoke. Scary machine not much heavier than a dirt bike.
He always put on a show in "Battle Of The Twins"

King Kenny Roberts , invented "knee dragging" on a 750cc two stroke and raced in all 3 Moto GP classes. Edit , I saw Rich Oliver ride a wheelie across the finish line at Pocono Raceway at 182mph on a 500 and he waved to the crowd. Amazing!
