Anyone know what Happened to Savageshooters.com

Good luck with that. The owner didn't have the desire or the time anymore. Don't be holding your breath for that to happen. Both sites are missed. :(
I know. That was just a bit of a joke about Saubier. What bothers me is that, as far as I know, some have offered to step in and help out with Saubier. Without more knowledge, that tells me that the ownership had no plans for it to continue on. Maybe I am wrong about that, but I don't know the real story and probably never will. It was a shame to lose Saubier.com and a bigger shame that it could not be continued with the assistance that I believe was offered.

I've 'migrated' between several sites. It's become apparent that there's a 'life expectancy' with forums.
Enjoy whichever one you like best. It won't be around forever.

Sad. True.

It isn't 'assistance' that is needed when someone wants to 'retire'. There needs to be someone willing to go in and pay for it as well as manage it. It is more of a change in ownership of a business, not a change of a web banner. Then there is the reputation of the original owner (if they care for such a thing). Would they let just anyone step in and take over their work? Will the advertisers continue with new ownership? Will the members stay?

I have seen a couple of forums survive a change in management. It doesn't happen often because the new owners fail to realize how much work is involved and they let things slide. Disagreements become fights. Hackers corrupt the sites. Scammers flood the threads. Advertisers are scared off. Participants go away and the sites die.

I never considered such stuff until the wife and I decided to 'retire' from our small business. It was a supplemental income for us, not near enough to pay a mortgage. We ran it because we liked the work and service. But, I had retired from my day job and we wanted to travel. It was a tough position to be in since we worked hard to build up the reputation and service. We got lucky. One of our vendors was retiring from his day job and wanted something to provide extra retirement income. More crucial, he had the cash to invest. Since we had worked with him we knew it would continue with the same kind of service.
