Any testing with the 6BR 40deg shoulder?

I dont remember seeing any tests. But I have shoot both in competition dozens of times each (600 yards). I would not turn my hand over for the diffence. Mike Wilson is shooting the BRX at 1000 and leading the IBS SOY points if I am not mistaken. IMHO the Dasher has a bigger following and more people shooting it and sharing reloading info, it is not neccesarily more accurate. Ballistics are pretty much identical. If you find a rifle chambered in a Dasher that is more accurate than a one chambered in a BRX or the other way around, I will pomise it due to the barrel or bullets being more accurate, not the cartridge. Thinking back about 10-12 years or so the only thing I can think of that sounded good that favors the Dasher was: Dave Kiff told me an expert ballistician told him the Dasher had a near perfect combustion chamer and some of that was due to the 40 degree shoulder. I personally have not seen a difference in the two in accuracy over the years. Samuel Hall

Guys, it all boils down to the barrel. If you have a good one, it will shoot with a BRX, Dasher, BRDX, 6BR, 6BR 40 deg., etc. I had one in 2006' and 2007' it was a 6BRX. Terry Brady had one in 6BR in 2005'. Sam you have had them in 6BR and Dasher, and many others have had them. I went with a 6BRX in 2004' I will not change, there is no difference in the accuracy.

Has there ever been a test comparing the BRX to the Dasher?

for all the stuff i have read they are the same really just more blokes shoot the dasher
i have just got my 1st 6BRX and am loving it over the 6BR and 2 of my mates have just got their dashers (where 6BR shooter also, and we are all running the same actions, stocks, and triggers in our new guns) and from what we have seen they are so close its not funny, they are shooting 107gr sierras and I'm shooting 105gr hybrids both are around the same powder charge but the dasher is using slighter more to get same speed as me, I'm running 32.4gr of 2208/varget at avg 3000fps with a SD 2.6 and a ES of 5 for the 5 rounds i just tested, dasher was using 32.9gr for avg 2980fps but his barrel was 2 inches shorter, other mate has just started getting his load together but still looking about the same
we are getting the same size groups at 500m/547yards, when we do our part anyway, i have had more 4 shot groups at around 1.3 inches give/take than i did with my 6BR, but there is always one making it a 1.8 to 2.5 inch groups haha but conditions have been very average to with wind and mirage
like other have said it come down to the barrels and how well you tune your loads and what each barrel likes for projectiles, I'm about to test 108gr Bergers soon
from what i have seen there is nothing in it between the two

Alex, I have not compared Norma vrs Lapua in the 6BR-AI. I have collected plenty enough Lapua over the years to keep me going, and it works. James, looks like you are going to be a terror this year with that HG! Samuel Hall

I've shot both Lapua and Norma bras in my BRX. No difference in accuracy at all except the Norma BR brass gives up the primer pocket after 6-8 loads while the Lapua keeps on going.

For anyone trying to read between the lines don't confuse the new Norma Dasher brass and Norma's 6BR brass. Their Dasher brass is a different critter, nice and hard at the back end and holds a primer for along time more like Lapua.

James, is that the confederate flag HG? Did you get hold of Mike Davis for the work?? Looks like it !!!

@JamesnTN

Looks to me like you'll want to try some colored half green and half red:cool:.

What velocities/barrel lengths on those?

Tom

Tom,

Yea a mix would been just right. Of course temps have been 45-50 when this testing was done. So I'll have back back down to probably 31.0 grains when it gets hot.

The barrel length on this rifle is around 31" and as for velocity I have no clue. I gave up chasing chronograph numbers and began letting the paper tell me what the rifle likes.

I been playing with my BR-AI, with a 8.3 twist 4 groove .236" Bartlein. I shot 32.1 gr Varget with 100 gr Berger jumping .010" for an average speed of 2970. Gonna switch over to Clinch River bullets next outing. Also shot for the first time this weekend off a Farley II rest, thanks to Gabe22BR, thank you Gabe!!!

Have you tested the lighter bullets at 600 and if so how are they grouping?

I shot them Sunday, cannot say they are grouping yet, first outing at 600. I did shoot a 48 score on target 3 when I got back to feeling a groove. operator error cost me on target 4, the targets are stacked and the joy stick bottomed out, somehow after my first 3 shots and befuddled me with readjusting. I forgot my holdoff after readjusting and shot center, gave me my 2 8's!!! I held 1 o'clock on target 3 for my 48 score. I have shot very small with them in another barrel.

I screwed the chamber up on mine twice trying to do the Brdx / BR reamer thing
Ended up cutting it off and chambering a Dasher gonna have to wait on the for real reamer I ordered

The Brux barrel shoots like it has eyes, agg. for 5 groups was .089 and i'm breaking in a Kreiger and the first 3 shot groups was in the mid 1's plus i see a little vertical... i think it will be fine. Calling for a lot of snow, so it sounds like plowing instead of shooting.jim

I knew I should have jumped in the pool sooner. I made the trip to deep creek this morning, dug the target carrier and back bank out of thigh deep snow. I shot a fairly corse, double ladder. I realize it's early, but it appears to have about double the window width of the dasher. I don't believe I've ever seen a dasher have 2/10ths where the impact overlaps at 1000. The 31.0 and 31.2 look more like something I would look to find on a 1/10th ladder. If this isn't a fluke, I have no clue how this thing won't agg really good! I have quite a bit to fine tune yet, but this initial ladder looks promising to say the least.

Is that your ole faithful H4895? Also what velocity was that at 31.0-31.2?
