Tom, i just did a little out the door testing to get close to where i needed to be velocity wise. 8208 hit 2974 at 31.0 gr. so it is a .1 faster than H 4895, so it looks promising..... jim

Well let me start with this Tom my rifle barrel is 26inches in length 7.75 twist in 6brai brass is fireform on 1st firing shooting at 300yds not anything to write home about but the es was very good I have one group with h4895 the rest are 8208 imr I hope this helps I think with some tuning the 8208 has potential.PS the bullets were 103 vapor trail sierra jackets.

What free bore are you using ??
I tried some H4895 today and topped out at 31 grains which in reality was way to hard on the case, I suspect around 30.6-8 would be max.
I'm currently using RE15 with very good results but can be difficult to get here, where the H4895 is easy to get and I have a 4kg of it.

I have felt for a very long while that at the elevation the Montana range is, that H4985 behaves in burn rate more like Varget. I might be all wrong, but it will be the first time.....lol. We can ruin brass all day here at 350 elevation trying to run 32 grains out of a Dasher in a .236" tube. I have a .237" Hawk Hill 8 twist might be my next project, just to see.

H4895 has huge changes lot to lot. I don't think elevation has much effect. I have a lot that takes 31.9 to shoot the same node as Toms 32.4

I been running long freebores since before it was cool.....Acutally won the very first 1000 yd match I ever shot at Hawks Ridge with Dasher with .208 FB running 115 Tubbs and N203B. April 18 2009

Tim, I have never shot at 350'. I can say my velocity picked up exactly 9 fps when dropping to 50', and some hideous temperature and humidity though. And it stayed in tune on paper more importantly.

For you guys shooting these, have you measured an h20 volume flush with top of the case you'd care to share? Curious if there's any measurable difference between the .460 and .463 shoulder.

I use the .460 shoulder and powder capacity isn't an issue. To me using a Harrels die to size and the same set up as my Dasher was, and it was very easy transition. .... jim

I'm running a Dasher now, so that would be a very positive point for me also. I thought I was going to do a lot of 1000 yard benchrest style shooting, but that hasn't panned out here where I'm at. I'm usually doing 600 and down. The wide tune window compared to the Dasher is the biggest draw for me at the moment. This seems just about perfect to have a zero freebore reamer and then throat for the bullets I'll use. I'd love to have a barrel on my Borden for long range and one on my Panda for short. I want to give Bart's 80s a try.
