Well let me start with this Tom my rifle barrel is 26inches in length 7.75 twist in 6brai brass is fireform on 1st firing shooting at 300yds not anything to write home about but the es was very good I have one group with h4895 the rest are 8208 imr I hope this helps I think with some tuning the 8208 has potential.PS the bullets were 103 vapor trail sierra jackets.Has anyone tried 8208 in one yet?

I have felt for a very long while that at the elevation the Montana range is, that H4985 behaves in burn rate more like Varget. I might be all wrong, but it will be the first time.....lol. We can ruin brass all day here at 350 elevation trying to run 32 grains out of a Dasher in a .236" tube. I have a .237" Hawk Hill 8 twist might be my next project, just to see.
350 or 3500?I have felt for a very long while that at the elevation the Montana range is, that H4985 behaves in burn rate more like Varget. This must be the likely cause.H4895 has huge changes lot to lot. I don't think elevation has much effect. I have a lot that takes 31.9 to shoot the same node as Toms 32.4
350350 or 3500?
I been running long freebores since before it was cool.....Acutally won the very first 1000 yd match I ever shot at Hawks Ridge with Dasher with .208 FB running 115 Tubbs and N203B. April 18 2009I have shot 32.7 gr. of H4895 out of a Dasher and it shot good but not as good as RL- 15. .236 or .237 bore never saw a difference in pressure but i was longer free bores........ jim
This is an education in of itself.Tim, I have never shot at 350'. I can say my velocity picked up exactly 9 fps when dropping to 50', and some hideous temperature and humidity though. And it stayed in tune on paper more importantly.
Tom
I have a zero freebore on order. Im thinking 55 grain ballistic tips for varmints as well.
