Any official ARA release re: new rimfire classes?

I'm looking for official info re: the new factory / sporter class from American Rimfire Assoc.

Rumors I'm hearing are almost like they are doing away with the Unlimited class....

Why don't you try the ARA website.. i am sure that is where you will find your info.. or.. You could call Paul..

Perhaps you should, maybe, do a little homework before you publicly post rumors, especially since the one you posted would shutter ARA.

Now where did you hear this vicious rumor ? Do a little research before posting garbage like this.

I have searched the 'net everywhere.

If you have links that show Im wrong, please post them. I would *love* to be wrong.

Lol no way !
ARA is dominated 99% unlimited with no class separating.

Ir50/50 has the different classes.

This is Jason's fb. (Ir50/50)

Word is an email went out to MD, starting in 2020, ARA sporter will be gone and a new factory class will start.
$1000.00 cap on rifle(not sure if this is with scope) has to be as it comes from factory no barrel switch outs(sorry 10/22 guys) no stock replacements( not sure on trigger)no tuners. so no Vudoos, Newer Anschutz, etc.
I envision a lot of CZ and Savages, maybe H&R M12 to shoot this class
2-piece rest, this class will be mandatory to be offered during sanction ARA unlimited matches. scored best edge.
also ARA will be divided and have 5 regions to shoot in. all this came from a MD I know well

THANK YOU, Lee for an actual helpful reply.

Is there any official press release or any such ?

From What you are saying, Im hoping there is no truth to the rumor of unlimited being done away with.... Because that's what several of the competitors at the ARA match I was just at understood to be part of the directive given to MDs.

No need to be ugly.

If you can clarify, please do so

Iff you got nothing, post * that. *

Not being UGLY but when someone post something like " Rumors I'm hearing are almost like they are doing away with the Unlimited class" this about a shooting organization like ARA, that is almost 100% unlimited, it has to be from someone totally misinformed about what ARA is or a internet troll. The factory class (if there is to be one) will have no bearing on ARA unlimited. ARA doing away with unlimited, would be like KFC doing away with CHICKEN. Not going to happen. Sending a PM the moderator over on RA and ask, it would be all the research you would need to have done, before posting garbage like you did.

I don't know when the official word will go out, but being that this is for 2020 not for another month.

As far as unlimited being done away with, no way I can understand why that would be. my understanding with 5 regions, it is designed to move the bigger matches to more areas. the whole idea is to bring in new shooters. I know of one MD that has held informal matches side by side with the ARA matches and had a lot of shooters switch over to ARA, so it worked to get new shooters to shooter sanctioned matches
IMO making it totally factory, will make it more welcoming for shooters who can not afford more than $600-800 for a rifle.
IMO the biggest pushback will come from those who look at ARA as for a pedigree group of shooters.
good example was a thing about shooters getting up to adjust their tuners during a match.
in a nut shell some of these guys will not want rookies shooting next to them.
I say to those guys too bad, and for the new guys go for it and have fun!

Referring to an honest question re: the future of ARA given the changes that *are* coming in my request for clarification and ***official**** information to ***end*** rumrs ... as "garbage" ...IS ugliness.

Its uncalled for. You pile on by insinuating I'm a troll. THAT is a personal attack. THAT is uncalled for.

Stop it. Ignore my posts. Stop trying to cause an argument.

Is that what you see as the goal....to make ARA totally factory? Or are you saying the goal is to make "sporter" totally factory? And leave "unlimited" as is?

From what I can see "Unlimited" IS 90% of ARA. It could use some diversification. But it dies without the Unlimited class.

There are not separate classes now.
All targets are 25 bulls. All shooters are in the same basket. So I don't get the "sporter class" being discontinued, there is not a sporter class to discontinue.

I KNOW THAT NOOne has any problem with anyone shooting what they bring.
But since there are 99.5% unlimiteds being shot....there is no competition with anything less.
So the idea of noses in the air is just plain wrong......

If Dan is changing things up so more shooters will come shoot I'm all for it.
But just like at my club which is not ara sanctioned the CZ's and stuff need not compare themselves to the unlimited crowd.

I'm thinking the "club rules" are being mixed up with ara.
Clubs can do what they want I'm sure. But on the ara site there are no separate class in the points standing. Only 1- 760, for example.
If your club wants to turn in 80 1000 score targets shot by jon smith. John Smith will be in the tail end of the score sheet.
