Any of you Quick load guys

Can you guys help me out. I'm doing a Reduced velocity 375 H&H load . Using a 283 grain Gas Checked cast bullet. Standard CCI primer & only 65% of max load of IMR 4895. = 44.2grains. Any Idea of the velocity ? It shot a pretty nice group. mike in ct

Mike,
In a BRNO-ZKK 602 Magnum Mauser in 375 H&H with a 25” Barrel, Lyman Mold #375449 hard cast 264 gr. Gas Check Using 45.0 gr. of IMR-4895, REM 9 1/2 LR primer, LBT Blue bullet lube, clocked 2350 fps and was accurate enough to hunt elk with.
Grouped under 2” at 100 yards consistently for 4 five shot group targets.

With a 283 gr. Cast, I’d say your running north of 2200 FPS which is pretty close to ideal.
Anything over 2500 FPS Leaded bad and accuracy wasn’t there in the testing that I’ve run shooting cast bullets in rifle calibers.

I'd use my buddy's little one. [chronograph] But I'm here in Ct. He is ten hours west of here. It will be spring before I get out there. mike

I wouldn't worry a whole lot about the M.V. Mike, If you've found the "sweet-spot" (And 4895 was the best of what I tried - 4064, 3031 & 4895) I'd be satisfied. A 286 gr. .375 caliber bullet cast with a good alloy is going to take care of Any hunting business in North America. - I promise unless the barrel is extremely short your getting above 2000 fps. with the load you mentioned.

My Buddy in western Pa. Said the same thing. He said just load more ammo & go shoot a deer with that fine old rifle.. Can I get an "AMEN" Brothers ??? mike in ct

According to Quickload, you're only using 55.3% of available space, (when loaded to 3.6" OAL), and you should be getting about 1640fps out of a 24" barrel. (I used 2 of NOE's cast boolits of very similar weight/design for data input). This combo produces 14,132psi pressure, and the cartridge max is 62,366 psi.
By contrast, a 65% fill load (51.93 grns), would produce 1924fps, and show pressure of 21,075psi.
