Any love for older target rifles?

All mine are old as well. 3 Urals and 2 suhls. On any given day either one of them will outshoot the other, all of them just put a big smile on me and my little boys face. I’ve often thought about selling them to get a custom action gun built, but honestly know I would be sick.

I'm not sure if its considered old or not
Semantics. This thread was meant to draw out users, just like you, that felt the emotional attachment to the blued steel and fine wood that firearms today rarely exhibit, but were once commonplace.

Whether it meets someone else's argumentative definition of "old" is irrelevant. It's what it means to you that is on topic. Thank you for your post. :)

Walther from the early 1980's I was told. It now has a Weaver T36 scope. I shoot 50 and 100 yd BR. I wish my shooting was not holding it back.

Very cool walther!

I have a walther of my own. Running Target model, I believe its called. Difficult to find confirmation. The thing shoots amazing and has a trigger every bit as good as the finest 5018 in any of my Anschutz rifles.

Beautiful rifle orkan, is the reticle off or just the way the rifle is sitting?

I have three 52D’s, one E and a 40XB with a 2” Unertl 24X on it. I shoot these rifles in weekly fun matches at a gun club near me when I’m off work.

I thought it looked a bit off too, but when I expand the picture, it looks like the target was stapled a bit out of square to the backer instead of the reticle being canted.

Old stuff is cool!

I have an old Pre A mod 52 that is cool. I can't shoot it well or I haven't found the correct ammo yet. I use it in a small club match once a month. The custom stock has been cut off for someone of small stature. The pistol grip has a lot of vertical in it and is short between the grip and trigger for small hands. Also has a monte carlo spliced into the comb for a small face. The serial number dates it to 1929..
The old gun shows a lot of use but I like it and that is all that matters

Yeah, that target backer is most definitely not level. ;)

post it on Targettalk.com and you will get your confirmation..

Jeezus, that 54.18 is awesome..... Id love to find one of them.
Thanks. Yeah, it took me 7 years to find one I wanted, and a guy willing to sell it. I found models with the McMillan thumbhole stock all over the place. Well, maybe not... but they were abundant in comparison. I could have bought 10 of those in the time it took me to find the one I wanted with the annie badge in the wood silhouette stock.

I'll see your 1500's serial number, and raise you a 900's serial number. ;)

All original, non-cmp, everything matching, with a 6X unertl.

You like my fancy rest? Someone else was shooting my front rest at that moment, so I had to improvise. lol

Shot this group off it... so I expect to see some competitors switching to a bin and $10 bag soon!
