Old Target Rifles

Well, this is it. Swing action, McLennan 1-12" barrel 30" length, Davies 2 stage trigger, Stock by Bob Barwise, bisonite bedding, vertically adjustable butt plate.

These groups are all 5 shot groups from 100yds. It doesn't seem to be too fussy at short range. Two different loads were used and both seem to be doing pretty good. One was 45.3gr of Varget and the other was 44. Both with 2156 155grn Sierra palma, in HPS-TR case, federal 210, Varget powder.

BTW I made the bipod, it is still a prototype that's why its still bare MS that is starting to get a little surface rust. Works great though and it cost a LOT less than a sinclair :)

Groups. These are only at 100 yards but, I believe this is a consistent .3-.5MOA rifle without question. We will have to see what happens when I get back to 600, but I have pretty high expectations as of right now. A lot of the shots that open up the group is caused by me getting used to the 2 stage trigger. It is the first time I have used one and I occasionally pull one low. It also seems quite heavy but now that I have that diagram, I can adjust it a little better than it is and it should help some.

I took the old M 70 to the ranges on Sunday I shot 3 different bullets.

175 SMK
190 SMK
210 Berger.
I just used IMR 4350 powder and haven't done any load developement. The old Unertl scope is very hard to use as the retical has faded away so badly you can barely see it. The repeatability is still there and the optics are still very clear. It's just really hard to aim :-)
I have another Unertl at home to use thats been restored at Parsons Scope service last year. This one will go there soon.

I fired 5 shot groups at 100 and 10 shot groups at 200. It'll be nice to see what it'll do with a scope I can use and a little load developement.
