Anschutz 64 action, can it hang?

I Have the 64 Action 1416 HB 5098 trigger, set at 8oz. sporter . I would say on a good day with good ammo
you will need a custom BR rifle to outshoot it. A lot of guys have told me you have one exceptional shooting 64. I don't think so. Most 22LR on a good day with the right ammo at 50 Yards will shoot in a hole. I have a old Marlin 25N, with you know the old UM1 at the right temp/slight wind cond would shoot .250 at 50 Yards. now I will admit I can not reproduce it on command But Have shot quite a few .250's at 50 with it. Haven't fired it in years.

I also have a 1416HB that has a 2 stage 3 ounce 5098 trigger that is impressive with premium ammo at 50 and 100 yards. We also shoot at 200 & 300 yards. There are Bergaras, a Wierauch, Kidd Super Matches and 455 CZ. The 1416 HB will hang with all of em and out shoots em a fair amount of the time.

So what is it with the 64 action that hinders it?
In my observation, the 64 bolt has a lot of mass that flies forward during the shot cycle, therefore the lock time is longer than the 54, plus the added mass could tend to move the rifle when fired. If it had a bolt of similar design as the 54, I'm convinced that it would shoot as well as a 54 actioned rifle. I recently bought a 1903 MPR from Anschutz North America and it shoots as well as my old 1710. If you have a hankering for one of these, ANA has a few left.

The 64 was not the Anschutz economy action. That credit goes to the Flobert I and Flobert II Anschutz rifles. The 64 action has been used on a wide variety of models of rifles (and the Exemplar handgun), some with sporter barrels, some with heavy. With all else equal, variation in shooting performance comes with individual barrel quality. It's worth noting that Anschutz barrels are among the best factory tubes.

The 64 action was upgraded in about 2009 to be stiffer and heavier, a welcome improvement.

Anschutz eliminated the threaded holes in the last iterations of these guns. The 1903 MPR that I just bought from ANA's remaining stock doesn't have them. Sooo, I installed rimfire/airgun rings. Works fine.
