Annealer, which one?

Okay so as well as the excellent Ken Light annealer, we now have the Bench Source annealer.

Any opinions on which one to get??

I would be using it for 6BR, 308, 6.5 284 and 284.

Also I believe I have read comments regarding using Mapp gass instead of the Bernzomatic. Why?

ERIC

Eric, I ordered the Bench Source and here is why. With the Ken Light machine ($400 + $40 shipping) one has to order extra base plates for each type of cartridge case at $50 apiece + $40 shipping. As an example in my case, I would need a separate base plate for the Hornet, another for the 222 sized cases (204, 222, 222 Mag, 223), 22-250 & 243 case, 22 & 6 BR case, 6 PPC case, etc. The other machine on the market doesn't handle the Hornet sized cases. The Bench Source handles Hornet on up. I have been looking for two years for the right one and finally one is being made to fit my needs and it also is made in America by Americans plus the warrenty looks good to me. Those that have the Ken Light machines sure seem to like them. I seen one and they look to be a quality unit. The Bench Source appears to be a quality unit (I seen pictures only) but will have one shortly and will be able to report on it for real.

I ordered the Bench Source. To me it offers all the needed features for consistent and easy annealing.

The Bench Source annealer works just fine. I had a little problem with the hornet cases tipping over and screwing up the timing of the wheel. I called Dave Dorris with my problem and he said to wax the table top. No more problems!

Good unit that works great! I have annealed about a 1000 cases so far from hornet to 243.

Also have the Bench Source-Had the same hiccup with the 222 cases-Mr Dorris was VERY helpful-again-waxed the table-works great. Very happy with the machine-only use one torch at the present time. barry :)

So far I have done 222, 223, 243, 270-08, 308, 35 whelen, 338 LM, 375 H&H.
I use 2 bottles still on my first 2 at about 5500 cases ( there was 3000 223 )
Waxing the top is a good idea with the 223 calibers and below.
I am really happy with the high standard repeatable results that I have been getting.
Thanks Dave for a good product and good service.
