All VFR flying, the mountains are not a place to fly a small plane in the clouds, especially one without anti-ice or de-ice capability. My plane does not have the required equipment to fly IFR, but I am working on my instrument rating.
I burn about 11 gph at 20" of manifold pressure and 2300 rpm, which gives me about 152 mph over the ground. I slow it way down when I am looking for animals, I can fly along at 80 pretty comfortably with 20 degrees of flaps in, not sure of the fuel burn while doing that, but when its hot the oil temp comes up a bit.
